Sounds like the hinge pin is binding in the arm and pivoting freely in the bulkhead. Then, when you lock the hinge pin in place in the bulkhead, the binding in the arm becomes apparent. Use a reamer to clean out the holes in the arm and/or polish the hinge pin a bit.

Agreeing with mushroomed...Considering that all of the movement is at the location where the arm contacts the hinge pin, I polish my hinge pins (in a drill) on a regular basis. Also applies to the outer hinge pins too. They rust out with just a little bit of moisture.

are 6.1 FRONT arms the same as b6 or are they thicker like the rears?
im really liking the 6.1 hard rear arms on my car so may go the same on the front.

for those that are interested...

i run a b6 on carpet in 17.5 class.
last meeting i upgraded to the 6.1 hard rear arms (same geometry) and heres what i found...

Using the 6.1 hard rear arms gave me more rear grip without any other changes.
I found the car needed a higher rear roll center so i lowered the inner ballstud a full 2mm.
running the new higher roll center meant he car rotated much faster/better BUT was MUCH more controllable while sliding/rotating .. with the old b6 rear arms once she stepped out it was game over. with the 6.1 rear arms it was MUCH better and easier to drive.

the car also jumped and landed MUCH better.

I´ve used the B6.1 hard rear arms for a couple of nights at the track and really like them.

(Replying myself); I ordered the 3mm blocks.
I run a quite small indoor track with many tight corners, really like the 3mm steering blocks on my B6.
Car turns really easy around the tight corners now.
Anyone else that have experienced this?

Question: Do the b6.1 rear arms seem to change the rear grip at all, that is noticeable?

I drive on carpet using the hard b6.1 rear arms, the car feels better when taking corners(more grip there I beliveve) and landing after jumps.
Order a pair and try? No miracles gonna happen, but they just feel a bit better.

Last weekend I ran at XRS Poland/nation champs on 13.5t stock class.
I used b6.1 rear arms - and car better landing, but imho it is not revolution.

Question about front sway bar. We can mount this but nobody used this. Which conditions are necessary for front sway bar?

Was curious. I am still trying to use up my old b6 arms, lol. have not even tried the b6.1 arms yet. I just dont break than many arms :)

My kids are both running B6D's that started life as club racers. The younger one is breaking front bulkheads like they are a consumable part. I think he's on the 5th one now in maybe 12 race days. The only solution I have is to severely limit his speed via his radio, which IMO is the wrong solution because he's not learning to do anything except hold the trigger pinned. I was going to put an aluminum bulkhead on but then I'm afraid he'll be snapping arms (or worse).

Anyone else go through this headache? If so, what was your solution.

FWIW, I know the answer is to not hit stuff. His older brother has only broken 1 part (rear carbon tower) since he got his car, but he is much smoother on the throttle.

I’d say get the aluminum bulkhead and chances are he won’t break arms too often. Don’t think I’ve ever broken a front arm on the b6 and I’ve had mine since day 1.

Wildcat1971 12-19-2018 06:32 AM

the plastic front bulkhead is overly fragile
