Just got my brand new b6d in the mail, tower made it hard to pass up at $229 and free shipping. I can't wait to go home and start building!

Take your time and pay attention to the screw sizes/lengths they are telling you to use.

Thanks for the advice! I built my b6 last winter without issue so this should be a smooth build.

Will do. This thing is weird. It's not terrible, it acts like I have the wrong front tires (I don't) on an otherwise good setup.

With laydown, are the 67mm dogbones and requisite hubs an absolute necessity?

Im running stock dog bones and hubs with the laydown. From what i understand, the 67mm bones free up the drive train through the suspension travel...less plunge or something like that...That being said, the stock bones perform fine for me so i dont think its absolutely needed. With the laydown tho, i highly recommend the 25g brass c block.

Does Associated make the plastic internal gears for a B6 gear diff like they do for the B64?

Beansor2bacon. The 67mm dog bones are one of the best upgrades you can make to the b6. IMO. They free up the drivetrain so much I felt like i had changed motors. It also makes th car carry a smoother arc through the turns it’s not a upgrade to overlook I’d say

No, but some of us run just 2 small gears in the diff to save weight/rotating mass

That's what I am doing currently. I was going to be brave and try two small plastic gears if they made them. For 17.5 obviously...

Also use the online-manual rather than the printed one. I built my B6 during xmas and found 3-4 errors in the printed manual.

This is the kind of thing that drove me away from TLR. A pair of CVD bones is easy, $50 hubs to make them work on top of the laydown conversion is a little much. AE used to be the brand that had closest to the best setup from the package and TLR took expensive conversions to get there. Now they seem to have traded places.

Hopefully this anticipated update to the platform (B6.1?) takes care of this.

So don’t buy the hubs. Just buy the BMI inserts. Bam problem solved

I don't think that works with stock hubs.

You need the B5 aluminum rear hubs for those inserts

What is this b6.1 you speak of? What changes?

Hello,

I finished the build of my B6, that was smooth. The car looks promising, I use kit setup with 17.5 motor.
Unfortunately I got the 4-gear gear cover in box instead of 3-gear cover.

First run on Sunday ;)
