Anyone have any issues with gear mesh? I put a 15t mod1 pinion in my new SCT410.3 and couldn't get a close gear mesh. I thought that it might be the motor getting in the way of the mount, so I shimmed the motor a little and that did not help. The mesh is so loose that I stripped out the spur gear. Almost seems that either the kit needs to be have a 17t pinion or higher or I have a machining issue with my mount.

I spent some time on the weekend shaking the SCT410.3 down and comparing it to my original SCT410, then working on setup. Out of the box it is better than the original was out of the box, but not as good (to me) as my old setup was. The box stock setup is VERY stable under heavy braking, but has TONS of on power steering. Some folks will love that, but I like to turn on brake and have stability on throttle. I've been working on the setup a bit, and while I don't think it is quite there yet, it is getting close. To show some of what it can do, here's the SCT410.3, starting on the pole in yellow. There were certainly a few purposeful crashes in there, such as going tumbling at the end of the straight, as I was trying to push past the limits to find where they were compared to the old truck (in that case, how much can I cary into and through the corner). Anyway, here's tonight's race video of where the performance is now (medium bite indoor damp dirt/clay mix, packed).

I am using the HobbyWing 4000kv 4-pole XERUN SCT motor.

they don't go all the way thru, only half the length of the set screw. they've held great so far, altho the truck hasn't seen much abuse. the screws have a tendency to pull out (based on having them on my slash 4x4s) which is why i made a couple spares. the tekno plastic isn't as flexible as the proline plastic so they should hold better.
i don't remember if the set screws are 2.5 or 3mm. i probably just dug thru my bit box for something that was a tad smaller than the screw, then marked it at 1/2 the length for depth.
Shark's original post at rcshortcourse when he used the proline caps.
lol, my badlands... <3

I have put a 13T on an i have a 3800 kv 4 pole an i have it pushed all the way down an the mesh is paper gap but it does not go any further either, so I will have to see how this works and go with a deferent pinion later if this is to small ,i did look down the side of the can were the brace holds the center diff an i can see a hair of lite so i no it's not touching ,,
