Also, I understand that Kyosho is the best wheel offset for the 401 with 12mm hexes? And Ive seen a bunch of setup sheets in which AE springs are used. AE spring go right in with stock collar and retainer? Any other mods or tricks I should be aware?

can't answer the wheel question as I've been running the PR wheels but the springs should fit fine. Most, if not all, big bore springs should fit the shock collars with no issues.

Other than the few things I posted in the earlier post, there's also the 1mm shim to put under the steering rack to clear the front gearbox. Other than that, enjoy the build!

Prepping a LW for a big race in November!

Here are a few build tips :
- add 2x 1mm spacers between the steering link and the bellcranks to give it better clearance over the gearbox
- consider drilling an additional outer hole on the rear hubs (about 3mm further out). We've found the longer camber link stabilizes the rear for a much easier drive.
- use good threadlock, especially on the grubscrews that hold the center shafts to the front and rear transmissions!
- recommend thicker diff oil than the manual suggests (10k front and rear) as the stock 5k recommended can make the car rotate very fast.
- I personally like the gullwing rear arms. If you purchase and use these, shim them forward with about a 2mm spacer between the arm and the RF block as a good starting point.
YANMAN and camc71 like this.

My LW was on point with the 2nd fastest lap of a 18.1 and top driver did a 17.9. My Ares motor was just as fast all others. I was geared 81/27

Nice! I guess I can assume that your motor temp was ok with your gearing.

kit came with wrong spur gear. The hole is way too small for the slipper shaft. I got an AE 75T spur and reamed it to fit. I will start with 28 pinion.

PR doesn't seem to make smaller spur gears with 6mm hole. at least I dont see on their site.

To make sure I have this straight, my brand new LW that is still in the mail to me does NOT have the most current "low" shock towers? And the newest version of shocks are NOT released yet?

Most likely not. It depends on where you bought it from.

The new Type R shocks are released and available for distributors and importers to purchase.
