Hi, just after some advice with my ET48, I am continually getting grooves in the diff out drives. This then catches the drive shafts and snaps them, do Tekno make a hardened steel out drive ?? Are the out drives from the .3 harder and a straight fit ?? I've tried the lightened out drives in my EB48.3 and they are starting to show a slight groove already after a months use so cant see them lasting long in the Truggy. Searched for another option but drawn a blank, any advice ?? Txs guys.

Yup. I've never had a hinge pin break like that, but I bend front and rear pins all the time on both my ET48.3 and EB48.3. But I have never broken an arm. They are VERY strong.
I had a whole bunch of spare Associated pins left from my RC8.2e and RC8T (good riddance) 'cause those pins never bent - the expensive arms always broke instead! Used my Dremel to cut about 1/8 inch off the pins so now they fit the Tekno. Viola! Cheap hinge pins! I also remember somebody posting a while ago that they buy 4mm drill bit blanks and cut them to the proper length. My hingepins got bent as well, which is pretty annoying for a "pro" typer of car. Get yourself some 4mm spring steel (ebay) and cut it to the right length, no more problems like that. With my other cars, the hingepins never got bent that often, quality seems a bit average... |
i think the hingepin bend because the arms are so stiff : any hit is directly transfered to the next part : the hingepin
|
I don't think so, the quality is simply not good (if not to say sh*t); other users have good luck with hingepins like from Assos's, these hingepins don't get bent.

With that being said, I FINALLY broke an arm today on my EB48.3. First time I've ever broke one. Still haven't broke one on my Truggy. Nasty crash - got bumped in the air on our big triple and landed sideways on the front left arm. But I kept driving for a few laps before noticing it was broken. |

Another build tip video. This time on keeping the steering nice and free.

Guys are the NT and ET the same part for part, aside from the chassis/center diff mount/radio-battery tray? I have an opportunity to pick up a nice NT48.3, good price, and will then convert to electric and still come out ahead in the dollars and cents column.
Thanks guys for the feedback! |
Owner manuals should be done at the end of March. Go faster with blue
