Any suggestions?

Thanks

Is it a gear grinding noise, or an odd clatter as you get on the throttle under load?

How do your rear outdrive cups look? Are they notched from the dog bone pins? Can you post a photo?

It is an odd Clatter under throttle load. The outdrive cups are notched out where they are being replaced on the rebuild.

Depending upon how bad they're notched, that will cause a clatter under hard acceleration. And change the handling characteristics as well. I've experienced this as well. New outdrives and noise went away.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. I certainly don't want to have to buy another ring and pinion again when they look perfectly fine

Anyone seen any huge changes with any of the new parts for the .3?

Have you checked the front center driveshaft? The old version can get wobbly over time and make a slight tapping noise.

Yes I've looked at it. There are the normal wear marks that I see on everyone else's and the noise is coming from the rear for sure.

Main changes are the new V2 hinge pin mounts (more adjustable roll center), split center diff mount (quick change), new locking spring perches and boots, new rear hubs (will allow the use of universals vs. CVD's), trailing front spindles and set screws to secure the front suspension screws as well as the rear hinge pins.

Aside from the trailing front spindles, the overall suspension geometry for the truggy did not change as much as it did for the buggy, going from the .2 to the .3.

Don't forget...
Our low profile wing mount (TKR5181) is included to lower the CG of the whole vehicle. A revised front bumper (TKR5166) increases front ground clearance. Straight camber link rod ends (TKR5187) were produced to improve consistency in corners and the newer aluminum center driveshaft. :)

In addition to the above comments, 3 other things can cause this sort of rear end noise fairly easily.
1) Using grease that doesn't stick to the gears very well and flings off.
2) Having play in the pinion/coupler. Make sure there is almost no play here, neither in and out nor diagonally. If there is any play, the acceleration and braking forces will push it in opposite directions and both grow the play and start to grind up and eventually cause issues.
3) Since you mentioned a clatter, check the rear center dogbone and coupler/outdrive to make sure they're not overly worn as well.
