IMO your best bet is just to get a metal servo horn. These are big heavy trucks that use powerful servos and in my and many others experience plastic isn't up to the forces that come back through a 1/8th steering rack. The tekno aluminum horn works fine, looks just like the kit one except metal and anodized like the shock towers. As for the servo saver I run mine cinched down hard enough it barely moves, and haven't had any problems (I am using a Spektrum HV servo).

The tekno horns are great. I had to run the plastic one at my first race because the aluminum one hadn't shown up yet. That race was my only dnf with a tekno vehicle.

Anyone know where I can find a Graphite Center Diff Brace for the ET48? The reason is because the stock spur gear is slightly rubbing against the center brace that is supplied with the kit. It is not rubbing much but I do not think that is a good thing. I have seen pictures of kits that have this particular graphite center brace where it is actually open on top allowing the spur gear to spin completely free.
I looked on Tekno's website as well as amain but no success.

If the spur gear is rubbing the cover, you may want to change out the bearings, or the motor mount itself may be worn..

BTW this kit I have is brand new and never ran...so the bearings and motor mount should not be worn...still though the spur gear does slightly rub against the top brace. It only rubs very slightly I mean the rubbing sound does not stop the drive train from rotating in fact it is very smooth...I just do not like that sound. Hopefully the way the graphite brace is designed with the open top that should resolve the problem. Whatever reason it is rubbing hopefully it is not a major problem and everything turns out cool once it is broken in.
Eventually I will change out all 3 diffs to the smaller ones included in the new kit...but for now I'll go ahead and wear these out first I mean after all I did pay for them being that I had no idea that only just one Month after purchasing this kit that the new one would be coming out.

Still this is one wickedly sweet looking kit and cannot wait to run it this coming Fall.

Any one easl try the new losi body on this truggy or other wider shells

Some are running the Proline Enforcer NT48 body on the ET48. It's wider since it's designed for the nitro truggy.

Out Yea atm the local hobby shop only got the losi version one in stock only different is the holes were body post sits right other then that is the same right

In 1992 I was thrashing around the local rc track with a nitro power Associated Rc10. In 95 I got married and some fun ended and other fun started. Now I have come full circle and am getting back into rc racing.

I currently crash rc heli's more often than I fly them so I have some "modern" experience. But I haven't built an rc car since Bush1 was President.

I am looking to build a ET48.3 with the following items and would appreciate your thought and comments:

LRP iX8 V2 ESC & Dynamic 8 Brushless Motor Combo (2000kV)
KO Propo 30107 "RSx2 Power H.C." High Torque Digital Servo (High Voltage)
15t pinion
Proline v2 wheels with either gridiron II, chain link or impact tires (soft)
4s 100c battery

I plan to use mikes hobby shop track in porter which looks to be hard pack

Where am I going right or wrong with this setup? I am holding off on springs and oil weight changes until I see what this car would weigh and handle.

That setup looks like it would work really well. I would choose to use aka wheeles over the proline. I've had better luck with then. Tires wise I would ask at the track what works well. I use the impact almost everywhere though. I would definitely go with a new radio though.

And give up my frequency flags! That's crazy.

Thanks for the heads up on the tires/wheels. Since I've been out it for so long I figure I will need to do some experimentation with all the usually before I find a comfort zone.

I know I have my rc10 in a box somewhere. It might be pretty cool to whip it out and run it with my original set up - frequency flag and all.

You could also get away with a cheaper servo if you wanted too. The specs on that one are really good but that price is pretty high. Also have you considered Tekin for your electrics? Their tuning system with the hotwire box is really easy to use and better than anything else I've used.

I'm open to all options and not married to anything yet.
So what servo would you recommend? I need to admit that my eyes were going square after awhile of trying to compare the various servo specs that would meet the torque and power requirements throughout the range of anticipated voltage (drop).

I saw the Tekin brand and noted that it is popular other than that I don't know all that much about it. The lrp and Tekin motor / esc were fairly close in price point so the the choice is kind of an eeny-meeny-miny-moe decision. But I will give Tekin another look and especially this Hotwire box you mentioned. Thank you for your comments and suggestions! Keep them coming.

I'm running a savox 1268 in both my Tekno vehicles. It's been plenty strong and hasn't had any glitching problems running on 7.4v. If you want you can download the hotwire app from Tekin and see what the software looks like. It allows you to run in demo mode while not being connected to an esc.

look at a different brand for your esc other than tekin. Your in texas like me and we know how the heat will destroy a RX8. especially a Gen 2. I personally saw 2 fail sat including one you could have roasted marshmallows on.

And you go to remember that your on very high bite track at mikes. Any tires will wind up being slicks fast anyway. I have raced there.

While a 1258 savox is a good servo. i would not recommend it for a truggy. i have killed 2 servos that were rated for 300oz till i bought a big boy hitec servo. Big wheels make big strain. high traction makes bigger strain.

As far as esc. I run a graupner 180A ultra. Been great for me. Good warranty, Comes with good program card. And i would recomend it. A very close second on that list would be the toro ts150, which i never ran personally but seen a lot of local guys have good luck with them.
