I'm having some binding in my center diff. Has anyone built there diff with less than the amount of shims it says to use? I have 1 black shim on each side and I think I need to remove one and see how the gears mesh then. Any thoughts? Thank you

Only other thing is if the pin missed lining up with the internal gear. But you would know if that happened.

its not durable, cracks and rips on the front body posts. Its pretty common and not from rough driving.
For the guy with the diff tightness issue, are you confirming that when you mate the spur to the diff cup its not the teeth themselves binding against each other? I know when putting the diffs together if I don't kind of work them together I will get binding when I tighten down my screws.

Notchey would probably be a better word for it. When I first built the diff, it was fine, however, I didn't tighten down the screws all the way and I noticed a little oil leaking out. So I tightened them up and that's when I noticed the "notchiness". Is Notchey a word? It does seem to fit the circumstances. Thanks for the help.

After read through more than 200 pages, finally I finished my first RC kit. Thanks to all the tips from this thread, the build was very smooth. Can't wait to bash around with it.

probably tower hobbies with discounts, especially if that e-cash thing is going on which today is last day, you can get like $48 in e-cash if a member. Get the price up to $629 as a member you get $100 off, plus the $25 gift card, and the $48 in e-cash.

Some people build them dry and use a drill with a part of a dog bone and run them for a few minutes. Then take them apart, clean out the loose shavings, and rebuild.
I used to do that when breaking in a new engine in a new kit, installed dry, then after break in of engine take the diffs out....
But I don't know if any of this relates to what he said. Lol
