Thanks again!
The Gen1 Hotwire will connect to the Gen2 Rx8 via the programming port or the servo lead, whichever you prefer. The esc should have came with the proper adapter.

If you plan on running a motor fan, attach it to the receiver. IF you're running an HV servo, make sure your motor fan can handle 7.2v, I've seen some blow up due to the higher voltage.

Thank you - exactly the answer I was looking for! Yeah - the bottom end of the power was a little concerning without the cable, but I just factored it into my thinking. Anyway - should have the cable here in about 2-3 hours, so my situation shall soon be rectified

If the wire is not there or breaks while running the esc switches to sensorless so you can run it till you get a wire.
Motors come with sensor wires but they are not 1 size fits all. There are tons of different lengths so pick one up that is the correct length.
It is a rare occasion when I use the supplied wire, I like a clean wiring job and that means picking up a sensor wire that's just the right length.

Randy! Thanks for the insight, never thought of the voltage as it relates to the fan!!! Attention to detail!

It cogged a little here and there but nothing too bad. Didn't run it too hard but ran maybe 7 packs through it.

I should be getting a sensor cable that's long enough tomorrow, can I just plug it in and play? Or is something going to need to be adjusted on the ESC?

Thanks in advance guys!
I have the same truck, had the same issue, I ordered a 12" Novac sensor cable from Amain (NOV5354). This was the ticket and did the trick and left me a little bit of slack so cable isn't stretched tight. Works great!

Randy,

Looking for advice. Planing on running the new desc10 with 4s. What motor would you recommend? The pro 4 1900, the pro 4 1850, or the pro 4 2400?

Mainly outside, low traction, medium sized layout. I'm leaning toward the 540 cans, but just wanted the expert opinion.

Thanks

Can you run 2S lipo on the Pro4 HD 3000kv motor? I am looking to put it in a Slash 4x4 ebuggy conversion. I have all 2s lips currently but plan to purchase a 3s lipo with my new motor but do not want to be limited to just 3S lipos in my slash.

Default ez access port

Hey I picked up a used rx8 gen2. It doesn't have the wire to connect the ez access port to the hotwire. I have the hotwire gen 1. Does anyone know what cable I would need to use the ez access port? Can I just pick up a cable from an electronics retailer like frys or the like? Could I DIY one? Suggestions? Does anyone have a pic of the cable? Phew wall of questions! thanks guys!

Not sure about the others but I run the Pro4HD 1850kv on a small (2s size) 4s pack in my Tekno Eb48SL. Super smooth/runs cool/good power and really good run times for my 4s packs only being 3600mah. I love the setup and would use it for sure in my 4wd SCT if I could. Just my thoughts but not a "expert" so I'm sure Randy will chime in.

Thanks,

I am looking for a bit more motor RPM with the 1850kv @ 27k to 31k.
I pulled the trigger on a ROC 2300kv and that will put me @ 34k to 38k.

I was gonna try the 2500kv Pro4 HD, but it seems a bit too much for 4S and too low for 3S.

Default Pro4 hd 4300

I had one of these go on me Sat (granted it was 2.5 years old). It looks like the rotor had enough (Things holding the magnets on the back end came loose and one of the magnets is loose). Are there any warning signs before a rotor goes or before the motor goes?

Possibly.

I had a T8 motor that started vibrating badly. It was 2-3 years old. I was concerned that the rotor was starting to go, so got a new replacement and the motor is dead smooth again.

Thanks. I probably should go ahead and replace the T8 rotor before anything happens. Its about 2.5 years old too

Hey guys, looking to put an RX8 Gen2 with a Pro4HD into a Yeti kit with stock gearing.

I was thinking of running the 2500kV to give me good torque and some reasonable speed but not too much.

What kind of current draw should I expect? Looking for some 2S / 3S LiPo spec recommendations. I've read in this thread that the current draw is obviously variable but can peak out around 200 amps. So I would need between 35-50C 6000-4000.

Now just need to choose a reasonable make to give me some reasonable reliability.
