yeah, they release a new car yearly it seems.... but you rather them just release new option parts and never bundle it into a kit? The is the first new ground up ae 2wd buggy in 11 years.

I have been doing my best to read this thread as well as the B4.1 thread. Between work and two young kids, I am never going to get through 2K pages. My question is, is the general write-ups on page 1 of these threads covering the car specs and hop-ups current (specifically hop-ups)? I know the authors work hard on those so I am certainly not doubting them, there is just a lot of evolution to the cars and a lot of little ideas it seems.

I have learned a ton reading through all of the pages with a lot of great contributors here. I feel pretty educated switching to AE and confident my car is really close to dialed and won't look like a clown my first time on the track with my new buggy; thanks!

Hello, im new to 2wd buggy and just got hold of B4.1 kit (got it cheap!) and i notice that both front/rear uses pins to hold up the wheels. I wanted both front/rear to a hex type so after reading the forum i have found out that i need a hex adapter for the front but not the rear. So here is what in my shopping list:
1) JCI2169 - JConcepts B4 12mm Hex Conversion Front Axle Set
2) ASC9880 - Team Associated Hex Steering Block Set (SC10RS)
3) JCI2135 - JConcepts Aluminum 12mm Front Clamping Hex Wheel Adapter Set
4) JCI2091 - JConcepts Aluminum 12mm Rear Clamping Hex Wheel Adapter Set (B4.1)

Love Jcon stuff so most are theirs . So is this all i need? Read up also that B4.1 and B4.2 are not much different except for BB Shocks, Alu steering set and hex wheel set. Also do i need to have low profile servo for my B4.1? If not, im thinking of getting the SAVOX 1256MG for my buggy. Thanks in advance. Cheers

You will also need the axle nuts for the front as the kit doesn't come with them, the rest you have correct. Be careful with the hex bolts on the 12mm hex wheel adapters, the small bolts are a bit soft and strip if you aren't careful. Also, space the adapters (especially the front) as far out towards the axle threads as you can or your wheels will wobble. Also, don't over-tighten the wheel nuts or you will be back to messing with your hex adapters that have slid in due to over tightening your wheels. I have done this wrong a couple of times, it is a PITA to fix. Get your adapters positioned right and tighten the snot out of them with a good wrench that won't strip anything and you will be golden.

Thanks Mike for the great tip. You mention "axle nut" is it same as locknut? If it is which size do i need? Base on the manual given, it looks like 5-40 but thats stock kit so im not sure what is the correct size locknut should i get. Can you give me a heads up on that? Thanks again.

For the hex front you use an 8/32 nut, same as on the rear, but a low profile nut works better.

don't you also need a nut for the ball-stud? I'm pretty sure I just did this conversion for my brother and we had to find some because there isn't any threading in the actual plastic for the ball-stud

Hello, do you mean the AE Hex Steering Block Set? Hmmm....guess you are right. Base on the picture (http://www.amainhobbies.com/images/l...sc/asc9880.jpg) there is a hex slot for the ball stud but stock kit is just screw in. Hahaha thanks for the info btw any idea what size are those hex?

Tx i got those low profile nut lying around as i also use them on my B44.2

you are correct, you have to get those tiny a$$ 15.00 gold nuts that fit on the underside of the steering arm. Ive tried to run with out them in a pinch and the plastic strips out in like 2 seconds.

Don't buy the expensive gold ones. just go to the hardware store and find the nut. I believe its metric(m3, m4 maybe).

not its not metric. Its a mini 4-40 nut.

Savox 1256 is a bit of overkill on torque & a bit slow for bitty buggy. Savox 1257 & 1258 are more the norm. A short servo is not required. If you have the 1256, it will be fine, but a faster servo will be nice at some point.

The main difference between b4.1 worlds & b4.2 is the bb shocks, aluminum steering blocks, hexes, & VTS slipper. Of those I would say only the aluminum steering blocks are a REQUIRED mod to the worlds. Your doing the hexes, so I would HIGHLY recomend getting some AL steering block as the next hopup, or replacement WHEN you break the plastic steering blocks. The bb's are nice & well made, but only a real benefit if your track is rough. I was rather unimpressed by the VTS. I would recommend the Avid triad or rcshox.com Garodisc.
