Anyone running Protek 100ss servos in their buggies or T4.2? I had a Savox 1252-MG in my B4.2 and stripped gears twice. I bought a 1257-TG and will probably put it in the T4.2 and get a 100SS for the B4.2. Any thoughts there?
I have JR servos that are 8 years old that are still working perfectly well. A little dated in their performance specs, but the quality has held up. I recommend not being afraid to spend a little more on a servo since the right one will likely go into your next few car kits. |
FWIW, spektrum 6040 = savox 1258 except for the output spline count being 23 on the former and 25 on the latter.

I have run airtronics since the 90's. I had some 94357's that last 10+ years. The current airtronics servos last me about 1-2 days, lol. then I blow up the plastic gear or the fets. I still run airtronics radios, but I am done with their servos. Plus, support through the US repair shop was a little painful. I has a savox 1258 and it died after 2 weeks, but horrizon was very fast on the turn around. 10 days from the time I sent it and got a new one in the mail. I run esc's with good bec's, so I dont really worry about brown outs

Savox Servos...
I have personally had great luck with all but one of my Savox Servos and have at least 8 or 9 of them. I did have a problem with one after a night of racing and Savox had a new one to me in three days.
I have been very happy with them. Good Luck! |
savox
I have mean the same 2 savox servos(1267) in my nitro for 1 year 3 months ago. I run Lipo or 5 cell receiver pack on them.
And I have a spectrum 6030 I a have had it for 3 years and it have been in and b4.2, slash 4wd corr, tki3 ebuggy and back in a b4.2 and now in my b44.2. The 6030 is still stock I have not had to put any gears back in but I am next week just to prevent a gear failure. And I will proble put new gears in my savox also. I was told by SEAN COCHRAN before he started working for associated to always make sure that endpoints are set right and don't stress the servo and listen to the servo for that little high pitch sound they make when they are stressed, and turn the endpoint back until there is no more sound. OK I am done preaching!!!!! |
I just bought a 1268 and put the 1252 up for sale.

I forgot my question,
Guys how many of u run the b4.2 with all the electronic in line on the buggy do u guys like this setup or do u all like running the electronics on the sides? Which way handles better? Cause I am new to using shorty lipos so I put everything in line. So please let me know cause I am kinda unsure about the shelf mounting esc. It seems like the buggy rolls over a lot in turns and stuff. Very quick to react to steering input. |

I feel this setup provides more side to side weight transfer and keeps the buggy planted so you can drive it harder. I don't personally like the feel of an inline buggy with shorty pack, especially if you are on a surface that is medium to low grip. |

Or where do u race??I am not to far from marion about 100 miles or so. |
My buddy races shorties he has a b4.1 with the small shockss and a shorty with eltronics on the side he does pretty well I agree that for anything but super high traction it would be twitchy and unreliable
