Okay… Stupid question of the day…
With the tapered pistons, does the piston go in with the taper up or down? I was thinking that it goes in with the taper facing up because that make sense in my mind.. But this past weekend I built my 1/8th buggy and it came with tapers… Told me that they face down?? So now I’m confused… Can someone tell me what is correct and why?
Thanks!!

Well, i guess it comes down to the definition of slop. When my 22 rear arms were new, they were free and tight. no front to back play. Now they move front to back. I call this slop. For me the rack and rear arms slop out the fastest. But, its nothing like the rear hubs on the b4.2, lol. That was just ridiculous. I agree the b4 has more slop than the 22, but the 22 has slop by my personal definition.
I traded my 22 for my 4.2 long ago because a local guy bought a 4.2 and when I drove it I instantly knew I was back home. My buddy however refused to see the light and struggled with his 22's until he bought the Exotek Bell Crank systems a few weeks back and NOW his cars are high-end worthy, and the front ends are crisp!
It's all good... But it's just the opposite of what you said.
The tapers face down. I know of no one that has ever tried them facing up... Your car would be extremely hurting on landings.
Taper pistons make your car react quicker.... Sometimes they feel really good on the bench but on the track they just don't get the lap times. It's really track dependent... Grip level/how technical the layout is/rough/bumpy/smooth.
A common feel is that they help the car to recover faster due to quicker rebound... It's always all about feel and preference though. There are times I love em and times I hate em.

You were typing the same time i was lol.
I runing on a very smooth, high bite, wet track... green springs front, White rear, ion m4 with open cell.
Though I think with that piston 30/27.5 is probably a little light. Depending on size of your track and grip level.
When I ran those, they only worked well for me on a smooth med to high bite track that was pretty big. I ran 35/30.
