Regarding AE QC my 4.1 WC kit had bent top shaft threads....gave me an excuse to buy the MIP one at least. I didn't like how they allowed their std bore springs to rub the bodies either, bb springs were my favorite upgrade after the aluminum steer bellcranks

I don't have bb shocks but also was told by a guy at the track he doesn't run any seals either. I dunno why AE hasn't come out with an official fix, like a bulletin on the site with an update

Personally I just don't know if its worth the $100 upgrade. I feel dialed at ocrc and wcrc with v2 and bb springs but when I do it I might just get a 4.2 for them

Haven't ran orings or the TLR part in my BB's and never had any oil leak out from the screw. Must be a northwest thing.

Huh, I am running 3 cars with the BB shocks on them with nothing on the bleed screws. None of them have leaked at all. Guess I just got lucky. They did leak with the o rings.

I built my shocks with no orings on the bleeder and through 2 weekends no leaking. I have gotten into the habit of bleeding them before every run now just to eliminate any rebound. Not sure if it helps or not, but at least I know for a fact I'm not going on the track with a pogo stick for a shock

When you bleed them do you pull off the top cap or just the bleeder screw and fill thru it?

me too have 3 rides...

just one ride with out the seal's, thought I try as you are .

All four shocks are leaking ...:(

will be installing the copper seal to correct

Are you guys using thread lock on the bleed screw without orings to seal it or does it seal bare metal?

unscrew the screw, compress the shock, screw the screw back in.

That's it. Mike G showed me this method and I just started doing it from the beginning and so far so good.

No locktite, just screw it in.

This is an interesting point. I don't bleed my shocks every race but I build them and bleed them for as close to zero rebound as I can get. That may be why they don't leak.

I too don't use the o-ring on the bleed screw. The o-ring was a PITA so I tried not using them and it seemed to keep air out. I too frequently bleed the shocks as I figure I might as well when I have them out when I do a more thorough cleaning of the car after 4 or 5 track days (which ends up being about every other week).

I'm in the northwest and don't run o-rings on any of my associated stuff lol. No leaks that i've noticed. the way I look at it, if no o-ring is a good enough seal on the oil pan of my 1:1 car, it's good enough for my toy car's shocks lol. Neither leak, so it must work. ;)

B.A. Racer 02-01-2013 10:03 AM

No need for the o-ring. Now wild cherry might have 1 of a kind shocks but nobody around in the midwest runs them anymore. You can see that after the 3rd turn of the screw the hole is blocked off. Been running with no o-ring since the 3rd week i had them. No leaks and no air intake.

Wild Cherry 02-01-2013 10:09 AM

Guys , I'm nothing special and the picture does not lie ...

They will leak with out a seal , if they leak with out a seal for me ?
They will leak the same for all ....
