Well I run at newred hobbies in ocala, and I kno about the asking at the track, but I have seen both be used, the slicer, and slicks in the front and rear!! So I don't want to buy tires and then need another style, just for the front, I kno what tires they run on the rear, but not the front, I have seen all differ ants lol

A question for the buggy pros....I am just in my first week of owning this buggy....so I was gonna get new tires all around, I am wondering what is better to do as far as front and rear, should I get the same tires for the front as the rear? Or are a slicer/carver tire pretty standard for the buggy, the track is a high bite track with med jumps!
They are doing a complete track redo soon, so it may change, but my rule of thumb for me was: Track is dry and has a good amount of grip = gold barcode slicks all around Track is slick / a lot of moisture = Green Barcodes all around. Depending on dust either treaded or slicked out. Just keep in mind that slicks are the faster tire most of the time, but they are not forgiving if you get out of the groove. |

At newred you're either going to run green or gold barcodes all around. Ribbed tires will work, but it's not ideal.

Ok so I'm having a hard time with setup of my B4. Here's the deal, I just bought an Integy setup station for 1/8 and 1/10 cars and got the suggested adapters for the B4. Note if you are thinking of buying this that those adapters aren't right for a car with hexes...luckily I have a machine shop at my disposal so had the front adapters modified to work (the rears are fine). Anyway before this past weekend I set up the car the way I thought it should be per several setups I saw online: 0 deg camber in the front, -2 deg in the rear, 0 deg toe.
Get to the track and have NO rear side traction, spinning out in every turn no matter what tire I used. Made adjustments at the track using my plastic Losi Camber gauge and got decent traction but it helped that the moisture came up in the evening and the track had more traction. New settings are rear camber at -3 deg and changed to Yellow Avid rear springs (from Red). So last night I put the car back on the setup station to see where it was at and I just shook my head. RR was at -4 deg, LR -8 deg :weird: I assume this is caused by the B4 slop, but it makes me wonder how much my setup changes actually did anything vs the track gaining traction. Does anyone use a setup station with their B4? I really think it will help me to get my setups more consistent but it makes me totally doubt what I'm doing at the track. I think part of the issue at the track is it is outdoors on a folding table that isn't level as opposed to on a nice flat surface at home. How do you do your setup? For those using Avid Springs what's your setup? I'm using 1.5+1.1 pistons in front with the 30wt and 1.6+1.1 in the rear with 30wt. Track is blown out 1/8 clay with a layer of dust on it. When it gets damp it has traction but it was dry during the heats this week and is pretty icy. Don't laugh too hard, yes I'm not great but I also had NO traction in this heat:

I use my rpm rige height and camber gauge and I eye ball it.

I use a ride height gauge and camber gauge to set the suspension. Then make final adjustments using calipers to make sure the left camber rod matches the right and so on. Keep it simple, this is not formula 1.

What rear hubs are you using? I would switch to the A hubs and then raise the inside ball stud one MM. That should help lock it in. You could also move your rear bottom shock position out, but it wont jump as well and might push a tad. |

I think they should run the worlds on the track. It looks pretty consistent to me. Consistently bad, lol. I love the rooster tails. Anyway, all of the cars look loose, but yours is super loose. When we run daytime racing (night time now), it can get pretty bad on traction. I cant even punch it on a 17.5 and you guys are running mod. You might just have to deal with crappy qualifiers and set the car up for main if traction normally comes up. All I can say, your track makes me grateful for mine, lol.
As far as setup stations go. I dont think a lot of people use them in off road. I sometimes pull off of my linkages and use my calipers and measure them to make sure they are the same and when I make adjustments, I count hour many turn and make sure I do the same to both sides. That is about it. |
