I ordered new RPM coveers, thinking it was the AE covers that were junk, but alas...I've come to the conclusion that the ALUMINUM FT MOTOR PLATE is BENT!!!

My thought is to replace them, but wanted to hear from you guys if it's happened to you. I even considering warping from heat but figured, no way.

I see that some guys have switched to a solid plate...hmmm...

I bent mine and replaced it with the Avid one and it has yet to be bent (knock on wood) and the black is a nice plus.

The durability of the motor plate is in indirect relation to the number of times you land on your rear end. Prior to the current layout I had only bent 1 motor plate (full speed into the wall at the end of the 100' straight, in the air, backwards:sweat:). The new layout has 5 big jumps in a row with a very short lead up. Anything 4wd can double triple, but to do it with a 2wd takes hitting it exactly perfectly. I'm not perfect:rolleyes:. I've gone through 2 AE & 2 avid motor plates before deciding to just stay with the safe single double double:lol:

Never had a problem with the motor plate. rtr or ft.

Wow you are HARD on your stuff. Good move on backing it off a notch. Why didn't you do that 4 motor plates ago? I mean if you hit that section perfect every lap but one, you still lose time. Forget the motor plates, think what it is doing to your lap times. The point of racing is to do well, why stifle your result by trying a section you can't handle? Is racing so difficult for you that you get too caught up to think? I guess I have been doing this so long that I forget what it's like to have such a hard time with stuff. Not trying to sound like a jerk, just trying to figure out how other people do what they do.

Hey man we can't all be "super pro" rc drivers that try to criticize everyone. Should probably keep comments like that (which are not productive) to yourself.

Speaking from a lot of experience of crashing and bending motor plates, here is my 2 cents worth. The solid black plate is by far the strongest (and heaviest) of all the motor plates. The FT team (slotted) plates seem to bend the easiest. The solid blue plate seemed to be the second best(and at least the one I had was the lightest(?) of all of the motor plates), and the Avid fell in the middle for durability and was the 2nd lightest. but it was the best looking. Once, I started running the solid black plate, I've never had to change it. Fortunately over the last 6 months my driving and jumping has improved dramatically, so hopefully bending motor plates are a thing of the past, and I can go back to the Avid.

Lol. That section you guys have is killer. it seemed if when I tried it at the end if I hit it at all wrong the it was nose up city. Probably can make a killing on motor plates lol.

You are not sounding like a jerk, you ARE a jerk

Anyone know where one of those center-mount ESC shelves are in stock?

Since Team Associated doesn't have them in stock on their website I am going to assume you aren't able to order them through any other store yet. I would assume it will be available very soon.

I bent quite a few plates on the top from landing on my wing. I put on the jconcepts aluminum wing mounts and haven't had one bend since. Had one bend in the back from getting a 1/8 e buggy to the motor during practice, fixed that by pulling my car when a ebuggy is out on the track.

Team Associated will have them available at the end of the month. Look a few pages back there is a guy who is selling shelve and battery brace for $10 awesome deal.

MIP Top Shaft

I am getting back into electrice after several years out (before brushless). Is the MIP top shaft still a must? I know it made a huge difference back in the day in my B3, but did not know if they are still valuable now over the steel ones.

Thanks.

Vision racing sells them. I paid 21.00 for plate and battery brace that arrived in 3 days and could not be happier.
