Wow! Two lucky guys are gonna win some awesome stuff from Yaiba Racing! My younger brother Cush (and Team Yaiba Racing driver) just ran his full Yaiba Spec B4.2 yesterday for the first time. Put it 3rd on the grid in a tough field where 1st-5th were seperated by five seconds, and only a second from 1st to 3rd. After some hard racing through the whole 6 minutes he wound up 4th- pretty solid for his first day driving the car! Only a matter of time before he puts the Yaiba Spec in the winner's circle.

That dirt looks like dirt dirt and not clay. You might need to soften the front a little.
On the lines that most people run its astro and dirt (no grass for me )
Especially on the carpet, it's a bit bumpy and when I steer on it, the car leans in. I could change that with a heavier spring.

What tapered pistons should I buy?
All of them and just test em or a specific set?
It's dirt mixed with some kind of sand.

I have only tried the 1.4x3's. I thought my car soaked up the smaller ruts better. But we have a new layout and I just got the pistons, but so far I like them.

Oke, thanks.
I'll try them out when they are in stock here.

Just came back from the track and tested 1.7 with 32.5 front and 1.7piston 27.5 rear. seems like it soaked up the little bumps a bit better.

I think I'm dropping the tapered pistons on my ride. Too soft in the corners with the 1.6. I'd be up to try something smaller, but not worth the $$$.

I'm running tapered 1.6 currently, the car is too soft/twitchy everywhere. If I increase oil wt to make it better, it becomes numb. I preferred the regular (non-tapered) 1.6. At $15 a pop for the tapered pistons, I'll stick to the regular non-tapered ones.

ah, ok. Yeah, the machines 1.6's have a larger hole than the molded 1.6's. That is why I went smaller that the molder 1.6's because I never liked the feel of the 1.7's.

I'm trying 1.6's (reg) outside this weekend. With the way our track is setup, I'm thinking I could use the extra pack on landings more than I could use the extra dampening for the small ruts. Of course as soon as I switch, the track will look like the surface of the moon and I'll be scrambling to switch back

Try the Avid machined flat pistons in 1.6mm. fit tighter to the shock body and feel amazing. I have them mounted up for this weekend indoor racing. 32.5 front and 30 rear.

I really didnt like the 1.7's. The 1.6s were better on pack, but just not right in the corners. I personally feel like the corners are better with the 1.4x3's and I only slap on a tabletop ski jump I am full speed flat landing. I might work on down siding that jump in the future. I was just trying a few lines this weekend, but didnt really work on that one much as long jumping seemed fine. My buggy was getting about 5-6 feet in the air traveling about 15 feet and flat landing. It didnt bobble bounce or lose a beat. But it might be unnecessary punishment of my buggy.

I MIGHT give those a try, I've been looking for an excuse to order the shock standoffs anyway.

Jmuck, are the avid ones just like the standard AE ones, just machined for a better fit?

What springs you running with those?
