Does anyone know the weight difference between the Lunsford Turnbuckles and the standard b4.2 turnbuckles?

Also has anyone tried the "Super Duty" vs the "Punisher Plus" turnbuckle set? Is there any noticeable difference? And will they go onto the standard ball studs on the b4.2 or do you need to buy others to fit the Lunsford?

Thanks!

Ok thanks, I was kind of asking purely because I like the look of the J Concepts ones and was looking for an excuse to buy them

They dont vibrate loose because you can torque down on them with your 11/32" wheel wrench. Never had mine come loose.

Sorry man, thats for the scrubs. Was curious about the suburbs.

Edit, I need to lay off the sauce, got too focused on the one side, not realizing they were not directional, carry on

anyone had problems with the CVD's comming out of the outdrives? i got my car to the track today and on hard on power turns i can hear the CVD's clicking. when i look at where the CVD pins sit in the outdrives there is ~1-1.5mm of space on the outside of them. im wondering if maybe my outdrives are spreading? they look fine, not worn out, and i made sure i had the correct limiters in the shocks to remove that from the equasion. the car is a B4 FT(original, not .1), but i figure i can ask the question here and hopefully get an answer.

check to c if you threaded the shock eyelets all the way onto the shaft.

Speaking of eyelets, setting equal stroke is such a PITA. There's a ton of flashing on the eyelets for my 44.2. Easier to just measure overall length, but even the blue caps are different sizes.

Testing report for last night:
Track: Indoor clay, very wet last night

Baseline Setup:
• Spring – 3.15/2.1 F/R
• Shock Oil – 30/25
• Toe – -2/-3.5
• Camber – -1/-1
• Shaved Brace w/ C Hub
• Tires – Gold Barcode/ MC Suburb
• Sonic 7.5T w/ Mamba Max Pro ESC
• Everything else “stock”

The first change was to install the Avid Triad slipper. Wow! The feel to this setup was much more consistent than the VTS slipper. My fastest lap only improved a couple tenths 23.2 -> 23.0, but my times were much more consistent. I was also able to run the Triad tighter than the VTS which made clearing some jumps easier while maintaining more control.

The next change was to install the black (1.9) spring in the rear. This change was a huge improvement in settling the rear down. The track was pretty sloppy last night and the softer spring in the rear helped tremendously. I was able to run faster and much more consistently. If the track was tackier I would probably go up to a green (2.0) spring in the rear to get a little more rotation. Fastest Lap 23.6

I then installed the white (3.15) spring up front. The balance was slightly different, not a huge change. However, the car felt a little better through the faster corners while not losing any through the slower stuff. Fastest Lap 23.5

I then moved on to tires. First up was substituting the Gold Barcodes for some MC Scrubs. The Scrubs allowed me to carry a lot more speed through the fast corners but seemed to slide more in the medium to slow speed stuff. I am planning on sticking with the Barcodes for now but will investigate this again when the track is tackier.

For the rears I tried some Pink BK Bars in place of the Suburbs. I could not seem to get any grip with the BK Bars. I continued running to allow the tires a little time to “break-in” but they never really improved. A couple people really like these tires but I will be sticking with the Suburbs.

Final Setup:
• Spring – 3.3/1.9 F/R
• Shock Oil – 30/25
• Toe – -2/-3.5
• Camber – -1/-1
• Shaved Brace w/ C Hub
• Tires – Gold Barcode/ MC Suburb
• Sonic 7.5T w/ Mamba Max Pro ESC
• Avid Triad
• Everything else “stock”

2 degrees of toe in? Whoa. Try 0 degrees of toe in and I bet the car will act better for you mid corner to exiting of the corner.

First things first... Never tune the chassis before tires!! The correct tires mean way more than any setup adjustment.

Always start with a similar pro setup as a baseline and pick the correct tires FIRST! The car should only need minor tweaks from most of the standard setups.

Not to be rude but running a white front spring and black rear tells me that setup is busted. Guessing also by how you have the 3.5 rear toe block and that spring combination that you're searching for rear grip???

There is just no way that that is the "optimal" setup for your track.

Where do race? Pics of the track? Description?

I started with 0 deg and worked in from there. The buggy seemed to "track" too much with the surface imperfections with the 0 toe. I also run more toe-in than most in my other cars so its more of a driving style preference.

I didn't go through the whole history of where I got my baseline, but I did benchmark pro's setups, along with local setups, and have adjusted over a few nights of running. The tires were the first thing changed and everything came after that. That being said the only way to experience other tires is to try them, which is what I was doing here. Yes it would have been better if I tuned a different setup for each tire and I will most likely do that in the future. I was just going for quick experience and to see if I could feel a difference that would give me an idea of what I would need to change for each tire.

I'm not really searching for rear grip more just balance and feel to fit my driving style. Yes, I know that it may not be the "optimal" driving style but rather than learn a new driving style and car at the same time I am doing one then the other.

Front toe can be tricky on the b4 with how much slop they can generate.
You kinda have to push back on the front end IMO and then adjust since when you are driving down the track the force from the track is gonna do the same. So if you car is sitting in place and it looks like it has a bit of toe in i wouldnt worry too much about it since the slop is gonna come into play and most likely be close to zero while being driven.
I could be wrong on this and feel free to corect me but my experience in the auomotive field is where i came up with this theory. Not that there is any kind of slop like that on a vehicle getting an alignment.

So there was some talk of what the spring rate was approximately on the rear gold X spring. Well i didnt have time to explain my findings and im sure this will lead to more questions. But ive ran the white and grey ae springs and the gold Xsprings as well as the pink front x spring and the green ae spring. I feel the gold xspring is a tad lighter then the white ae rear spring. the pink i think is a tad lighter then the green ae spring. I actually measured the gold x spring can came up with a 2.05lb at 1 inch of compression. I am sure the progressiveness of these springs is a lot different then the AE springs but i like to go back and forth from the green/white ae setup to the pink/gold spring set-up.
I didnt bother actually measuring the pink fronts since i was mostly concerned about the rear of my car at the time.
