Tightening the diff make the car even more tail happy.
Tyres are the first thing to look at, and slipper adjustment.
The current trend appears to be to lock everything up, but if you don't have the grip by being able to put the power to the ground all you end up doing is wear tyres out.
Failing that look at your anti squat, and rear toe.
If your running say 2deg anti and 3 toe w/ zero hubs, try the 3.5 inner block.
But the more toe you run, you can end up having issues in other areas.
Cheers

If your not lighting up both rears and posibly diffing out down the staright which will make the buggy wander left to right pretty badly then yes

So can other changes also if just doing that adjustment doesn't fix it

Better rear tires/inserts
softer rear springs/oil
more weight over the rear
less camber
looser slipper
and of course
less throttle applied

Not even close.

My favorite ballcups are the Losi XXX cups. I've NEVER popped one off. Hell, they're difficult to remove when making adjustments.

PERFECT. Got plenty of those!

what you are wanting is for it to square up better. I doubt it will be a simple righten the diff issue. I was having the same thing a couple weeks ago. I switched from the 1.7 to the 1.6 pistons and went back to the c hub with no washers. Since I did both changes at once, not really sure which change foxed it, probably the c hubs. You may be diffing out. You might be able to help it with tightening the diff slightly. Like most things there are a few ways to fix it. Soften the rear springs, c hubs, heavier pack, maybe tighten the diff a little, stiffen the front, change tires, etc. for me the c hubs seemed to work and I back mounted them, so no more spring rubbing.

Carpet setup help: Can anyone suggest tires/compound for carpet only? I am running blue springs front and rear. 40F and 35R. any suggestion/help would greatly be appreciated. thank you

Those who run the esc in the middle can you post some pictures?

Cain 02-24-2013 09:17 AM

thanks to everyone for the tip on the 1.6 pistons versus the 1.7s . Went with that change, different oils, as well as stiffer front and rear springs and TQ and won the amain. Car was very plush over the jumps, lots of controllable steering. Very happy with it.

As a side question, how often do you guys change out the front bulkhead? Figure that is where I am seeing most slop right now. Anyone using an alloy one instead?

Wildcat1971 02-24-2013 09:28 AM

I have the alloy one. aside front not wanting more weight up front, my biggest issue is breaking way more arms. I break my arms 3x more with the alum bulkhead.

Cain 02-24-2013 09:33 AM

thanks for the heads up. You'll get a good laugh but indoors I like to using the RPM wide front bumper since it doesn't dig into the carpet surface saves my front a-arms lol.

mat3833 02-24-2013 09:38 AM

bulkheads are cheap, back in the day i would keep 2 spares on-hand. and id replace them when they got some slop. kept the "worn" ones for bashing tho.

will probably give her a going through and refresh for sure before offroad season lol.

i found that a little slop actually helped if you run on a rough track. seems bass ackwards but when i replaced the bulkhead on my B4 the car may have steered better, but over the bumps it was a bit more of a handful. dropped from 30WT to 27.5WT in the front and it helped but then i was bottoming out on some jumps. guess its a trade-off.

broke a bulkhead yesterday on sc10b, 5 minutes in and out. Alum just passes the buck down the line. Used the big rpm bumper on indoor track, had to replace the bumper bolts every race and bulkhead. stock works great for our trac. It would be a fun race day joke to put an sc10 bumper on a b4.2.

isarctard 02-24-2013 08:13 PM

Looking to switch to the b4.2 and would like to know if anyone knows the offset difference's front and rear of the losi 22?

I'm hoping I can use the some of the wheels I already have.
