Tekno SCT410 Thread
Hahaha...I've got at least three of those $150 shirts. And I spend cart loads of money at the LHS too. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna own one of these SCT410's.
IMO sponsorship should be 30% race results (club results should count) and 70% citizenship at the track. After all, sponsored drivers are stewards/employees of the company they represent. A fast jerk is still a jerk and makes me look the other direction when looking for stuff.

they get you that way...you think in your brain every month adding to your cart, what can I spend to get to 150.00!! then you get the 150.00 free t-shirt! lol
we've all been there! (more than once)
theres a guy on rctech that does PRO t shirts if you want that sort of thing!

Stickers do not mean anything in regards to sponsorship, thats why they come in every product you buy, just another way to customize and support your favorite brands. although im sure if you are sponsored they want you to use their stickers too.
To become sponsored you need to start recording your races and win them, a lot of them, and not just club level, you need to do bigger events and do it regularly. once youve done all that and have videos and some wins, you email tekno or talk to them at a race and tell them why you think you should be a team driver, i forgot the email address off the top of my head. anyway if they do choose to sponsor you the benefits range greatly from free stuff and all expenses covered to discounted stuff etc... depending on your level.
this is just a general idea of the process, im sure its different from team to team.

Hey Christopher! Yes-you are the sole reason for the Tekno excitement at Trackside.
Adam and I thought you were a MONSTER with that truck--you were ALWAYS laying down sick lap times. I knew right then and there that Tekno was our answer.
Now-6 months later-a sponsorship-and tons of wins-my son and I couldn't be happier!
Thanks man!!! (and Thanks Tekno!!!)

I will actually be starting up again in the next week or so experimenting with the 2wd stuff.
One thing on sponsorship stuff, when you have references, please make sure you ASK the person if it is ok if you use them as a reference. Just like a real job application. I haven't applied for sponsorship even with as much as I do race and the results I've had. It'd be fun to be apart of a team and promoting products for sure. I don't need to be sponsored to help others though

You guys are great to race with though, and Adam was probably the most fun racing against in that Main at the shortcourse showdown. If I had my tekno I would have beat him, haha
I'm sad to see Frank sold his though. I really wanted to buy it. Gotta get rid of my B4.2 soon.
I'm sponsored by Visa. They give me all the money I need to buy whatever RC stuff I want! Pay for gas, food, pretty much everything but entry fees! All they ask for in return is that I pay them back at a small minimum payment for the rest of my life!

I know this is gonna sound kinda lame, but my truck still looks brand new from only running indoors. WCRC closed, so my nearest tracks are outdoor tracks. I really want it to keep that clean look without tearing the entire truck apart every weekend. Anyone else here running the EB48 body under their SC body? How do you guys mount it; body posts or Velcro? I would assume I have to trim around the nerf bars if I want to keep them?
Back on topic though, took the Tekno to a nice win in the Off Road Kings warm up race this weekend, and looking forward to next weekend.
Can't decide which truck I like better for this outdoor high bite track though, my old truck which is now my wife's (which is basically Baker's setup with a couple small changes), or mine (which is basically setup from what I thought I'd want after reading setup stuff and then a couple small changes). They both drive well, but very differently, with setups that aren't even remotely close to each other, and I can turn about the same lap times with both too.

If you're only on dusty tracks instead of muddy tracks though, I've found that just the air guards and an air compressor after each run leave my truck pretty much looking new (except the bottom of the chassis) too. If you do a lot of dirt roosting with the wheels turned (drifting) to force the track into your truck though, then the guards will still help, but probably not as much as you're looking for.

This questions literally comes up every 5 pages or so. The first post is your best friend. But like everyone on here says, you don't NEED to have those things, but those are the two most popular upgrades out of the box.
Nothing else, it's not like a slash, you just bought everything you need, it's all in the kit, that's why we all love it, believe I'm like you always looking for the next hop up but tekno designs everything to be the best so there's no "needs" per se but once your up and running you may need to look at new springs depending on your track and the new straight cut diff spur n opinions are a "nice to have" feature but only when originals wear. If racing indoors maybe the lightened out drives but otherwise aluminum hexes and servo horn. The new plastic horns tekno just added to the .2 kits are awesome, Idk if ur sct has em yet tho.
