Guys this is gonna sound kinda weird but I just saughtered my Tekin RX8 Gen2 with my Pro4 4600kv motor, and got it all calibrated. But when I gas the motor it sounds super quiet and not very fast at all with out the gearing on it? I don't have any gearing right now but something about the motor sounds really really slow?

the motor is quiet without gears, another thing is don't throttle your motor if it doesn't have anything to push cause you can damage it due to over-rev, get a pinion and run your truck, if it is slow check your EPAs which I doubt the motor is running slow, that's just how it sounds cause there's no strain

+1 . Revving motor without any resistance is a no-no. Shattered a Novak that way by mistake (thought I had a fan on the end like the old brushed days but it came off)

I had my Tekno. Even got some local people excited about it and they bought one. I then sold it so I could have an all durango fleet of shortcourse trucks. In my opinion, the Tekno was the easier of the two to get to handle. While the Durango went similar lap times for me, it had an "edge" to it that didn't make it as easy to drive as the Tekno. Kinda wish I hadn't sold it. Just sold my 4x4 durango too.

I'm not going to lie, the Durango looks pretty sweet BUUUUUTTT saddlebacks? really? Tiny little 1/16 scale shocks.. hard pass.. hard pass.. :)

after having a highly modified desc410r I think the Tekno holds several of the same desirable track mannerisms with out the un desirable ones. The closest second, in my opinion, was my MIP Pro 4 SCTE with 1/8 scale shocks. The two Tekno cars have been so durable they made running two classes fun and affordable again.

So how is the box stock setup. As far as springs and stuff does it handle pretty well without having to buy more crap right off the bat

For me the box stock setup has been great. I wanted to get a feeling for the truck before I went and made a bunch of changes. After running it a few race days, the only change I made was lowering the rear diff oil weight.

In the process of building my 410 and its my first 4wd rc kit. I run on a loose to med track so I have bought super soft tires and going to stick with them even though there not going to last very long. Been marinating them in track star black in ziplock bags, you can stick them to the wall lol. So my question is how many of you guys reuse your rims and if so what's your method for taking off the tire and are your inserts also reusable?

Conversation about taking tires off starts on this page... maybe even one or two pages back.

For me though, if the tires and rims have lived out their life, they get replaced. Rims get beat and go out of round and their not the large portion of the total cost so I always go with new rims. Only reason I would go through the hassle of removing is if I rounded out a hex and the tire was fairly new or if I needed fresh foams in a fairly fresh set of tires.

Alright I will look for it, but I meant if the tires dead in 6 races and the rims like new, but I really don't wanna mess with I will go new I guess just wondered what u guys do.

Yeah, an abrasive outdoor track that ate tires and the rims were in decent shape, I'd boil the tires off. Some foams can be reused, some can't. Also depends on the method you use. Bake, boil or acetone.

See opinions starting on the page I linked to and it goes for a couple pages.

If you're only looking to save the rim here's what you do-

-Cut off the tires as close to the bead as possible (less rubber to interact with the acetone)
-Remove and save the foam insert
-In a sealed container (paint cans work well), fill with acetone about 1/2 inch deep, basically enough to completely cover one bead.
-Seal the container up (acetone evaporates fast) and let it sit for 24 hours
-After 24 hours pull out the rim and the rubber will come right off
-Flip the wheel over and do the other side for 24 hours
-Pull the wheel out and give it a good wash to get all the acetone and tire residue off

The acetone is good for as many tires as you can do. I never bothered to empty it, only refilled it every once and a while. Always keep it covered when not in use.

i pretty much do the same thing, but i've found that cutting off the entire tire as close to the bead as possible doesn't make the process any quicker and in fact, i believe it slows it down. if i just cut a line across the center of the tire and remove the foam and fully immerse it in acetone, it comes off quicker than just a bead of tire. i think this is maybe because the entire tire carcass holds the acetone in close to the glue line. maybe it's not quicker but i'm pretty sure it's not slower either.
