how much preload do you use on the servo savers new heavy duty spring.
is it the same as the stock spring 3.5 millimeters.
Thanks

hey guys, just asked a similar question on the EB48 thread but would you put a Savox 1256 or 1257 in your SCT410 or do I need to go buy a 1258? And can you explain why you chose one over the other?

I've run a a 1256 and 1258 both did fine but moved the 1258 to my SC10 cause it needed the faster speed and less torque than the 1256. I would recommend the 1256 cause for me it's plenty fast enough and has an abundance of torque for the heavy truck. I also run it in my RC8.2 with no issues. Nice to use the same one in both cars so only need one spare set of gears, horns, etc.

Danny @ SMC did resistance tests between a ec5 or deans or something and an inboard bullet. The bullet style connection had more resistance but I think that was attributed to the connection inside the pack and not the bullet vs. ec5 itself. The inboard connection requires a tab to come off the cells to the inboard tubes where the other direct solders the wires to the cells.

I haven't changed because all my packs are bullet and changing on one pack means changing all of my packs. If you don't have any other 2 cell hard case packs, maybe the ec5 connector type (or deans or whatever) pack is the way to go... ask Danny in the SMC thread, he's a wealth of information.

Can always get some good bullets and make a deans adapter if you want to start switching over. Don't think you will gain too much resistance that way.

the hole is counter sunk right next to the battery tray screw. either one can be removed without disturbing the other.

Battery strap is from ST Racing for the Losi XXX SCT cut down.

I think i'm going to swap out my straps for those off the RC8.2e. I like how they have a 90deg buckle that locks down to the battery really well. Just need to test to see if they still work being cut short

That would near double the difference in resistance. I'm good with bullets, was just mentioning that direct wires resistance will be slightly lower with direct wire if you don't have any packs and were buying a few to run the truck.

Tekno posted a while back that it's recommended 4 full turns out from fully tightened. I set mine to 6 turns out from full lock.

Ya, what they said!

Seriously when running 10min mains with a battery hog you'd be surprised how far you can milk a dead battery. A lot of times the LVC will be tripped just from a cell dipping down under load. Hence why I ruin batteries. These SPC batteries have been ran down to the point of not being able to move the car and are still kicking.

I run mine around 2.7. can tell from feel if they are getting too low and can decide if winning the race is worth eating the battery.

Agreed, but just saying it would probably be ok if you really wanted a way off the bullets. Could get brave and open up the pack and wire your own. Hell SMC may do it for you for a price.

EPIC VId man... SO did you win or did that last bump put you back in second? That was some serious racing nonetheless, I would have had a heart attack.. lol..

I didn't take the win, but it really didn't matter. I've got 1st place in the Iowa Summer series rapped up. It was an awesome race right to the very end. I'm sure my blood pressure was soaring the entire 8 mins. :D

Grimm, I've seen your truck run. LOL, no way you should loose any 4x4 SC drag races. That has to be one of the fastest 4x4 SC's I've seen down the straits. Rocket Ship!

To bad you didn't get the win, but I heard people back here talking about how good you drove last weekend. Looked pretty good in 1/8 Electric too.

Thanks for the kind words. :) My SCT410 is very capable of 1/8th scale laptimes, but that has more to do with the truck than me. I couldn't come close to those speeds and still maintain control with my SC10 4X4, it was just too squirly.

EB48 was really good, I completely gave away the win. I got tangled up with lap traffic and then stepped on my weiner.

Really? Those are a pain to get into and I used the HD spring with about 4mm in. Looks like I may have to dig into that :(

Alright guys, I got tired of referring to 3 different spring charts to compare different brands so I compiled all of them and sorted them by spring rate. Please feel free to pass this along.

It will also print nicely on a 8.5x11 piece of paper to keep in your track bag for quick reference while at the track. Also, if anyone wants any other springs added (I think I got most of the popular ones) please let me know and if you find any errors please let me know.

Can you add in AE and Serpent springs?

Yea, do you have a chart of all their springs? Looking right now but not coming up with much

RC*PHREAK 08-20-2013 05:32 PM

chart looks good. there are a few of us that run durango springs as well (they are very inexpensive).

4 turn seems real tight.
6 sounds good
8 feels even better
it's a pretty heavy duty spring.......
probably should have left a stock spring in there
