If your track is blown out or low-med traction, removing the swaybars will help.

U think? that's what I thought also but a lot of guys are saying I should run em? Guess only way I'm gonna find out is to try it with and without. I think if I'm gonna try em though I should run the smallest ones they have the 2.2mm not the 2.4 that come with it.

Hey guys I really need your help with 2 more things and then I will shut the hell up. 1- pinion and spur I should buy like 3 pinions but don't know what size to start with, 40ft straightaway roughly with a Tekin pro4 HD 3500kv and do I stay with the stock spur gear as far as size would going smaller benefit me on the small track? If so how small? And 2 this being my first 4wd I know nothing about gear diffs why the different weight oils? For the diff to turn slower or faster? Is it that big of a deal the diff oil weight and what do u guys think I should use in each, small track, smooth 10th scale no huge jumps and low to med traction, k I'm done if u guys could just help me out with these last 2 questions I should be good for a while lol.

diff oils I would start with 5 front, 7 center, 3 rear |

Yea its dirt not clay and they don't water in between each heat and its hot so it dries out and gets dusty and then it gets pretty slick. I just opened the truck box yesterday so I couldn't tell ya what springs come with the truck, can u tell me the colors of the springs from soft to hard and which ones came in the kit so I can decide if I should buy any. Thanks so much for all the help guys I appreciate it. I read one of the Tekno drivers has been running their new truggy ET48? cant wait to see that.
The stock setup (both springs and swabars) are relatively soft so I would run that as a base setup on a medium grip track (sounds like that is what you are running on). Adjust springs and oil to suit the jumps and bumps and then figure out what swaybars work well with that shock/spring setup. I would not run without swaybars, you want the truck as stiff as possible without compromising traction for direction change. |
Raced a race of our nationals with this truck last weekend. It was the 3rd time I drove with this truck. And also the 3rd time I drive a shortcourse :p
The track was gras and mowed the day before. In the morning, the gras was damp and sticky. The whole truck was full of gras after it took it out for practice. I had to disasemble the whole drivetrain to clean it and it ate batteries because of the added resistance. I could practice 2x 5min before the first heat started. In quali heat 1, I was doing fine and was running in first, until my LVC kicked in. It was set a 2.6V, but I guess burst were very high because of all the sticky gras. I had to stop and turned my LVC for the next heats since I had still 30% battery remaining. And because there were problems with the electricity, I couldn't charge my best battery for the first heat, so I had to take an older one. Anyway, Q2 and Q3 went better I was the fastest of my heat. Unfortuantly, the drivers didn't let me pass when I was trying to overtake them. Some drivers just hit me and then I was on my roof... Because of the bad luck in Q1 I lost some points and ended up as 6th. Since they worked with heat points instead this costed me some places. Anyway, time for the finals. In the first final, I managed to bump to the 4th place in the start and I racing well. Taking over 3rd a lap later and then pushing further to the first 2 cars that were battling with each other. I just keep calm after them and tried to drive economically, since I was scared that I wouldn't make the main. I guess they both felt the pressure and 1 made a mistake. Took the second spot and started to push a little for 1st place. I saw that first guy was really nervous and tried to get away. But I could keep the pressure up until he made a mistake. And that happend and I could really cruise and keep the 1st place since the others were pushing to hard. With 20 second to go, my ESC shutdown because the overheat protection kicked in. I was very warm in the afternoon and there got some gras inside the fan. So I turned that feature of after my 1st final. In the second final someone hitted me in the start and I was stuck on my roof. It took a while before a marshall could pick me up since all the cars had to pass first. And then he turned over the cars that were on their roof for the first time. I tried to push a much as I could, but there was just too much traffic to made it to the front. Ended up as 4th in the 2nd final. In the last final, I could get to pretty easy to the 1st place and kept the for the whole race. In the 5th minute I made a mistake and got stuck on my roof. I lost my 2nd place and finished 2nd. Overall I got 3th, which isn't that bad I think for my first race ever with the SCT410. The car was dialed btw on the gras circuit. Thanks for the great car Tekno! I'll try to post my setup here if I find some time this week. I'm going to the US on Saturday. Not for racing, but to work unfortunately :( I'd like to drive on a US track someday. Here's the race report: http://www.redrc.net/2013/08/belgian...up-rd4-report/ |

I have had good luck with the 8 X 1.3 AE CNC pistons though. They feel really good in the SCT410 |
Hey Sramos, any updates on your setup? I saw you were experimenting with sway bars and lightening up on the oils. Have you dialed it in yet? I'm running your posted setup now but it feels like it pushes a little too much in the corners off throttle so I was going to lighten up the bars, go up on the front springs and and maybe drop the rear oil down a little as it hops over a rough section at the end of the main straight. If I take it on the inside it will go over foward as it's right where I have to brake for the right turn. I will say however that it jumps perfectly and is much easier to control in the air then my previous setup. Just trying to find a happy medium.

Yea, I'm curious to see Sramos setup this weekend at the Mugen Challenge. I saw the track last night and Joey C laided out one very sick track.
Pics and videos will be posted up during the weekend or on Sunday night after the event. |

Yes I'm still experimenting but so far I went up to yellow spring up front, Down to 2.2 fr sway bar, 2.3 rear sway bar, 2 shock shaft orings, losi 35 fr oil, 27 1/2 rear oil, emulsion build. What your describing is the same I noticed with my previous setup, seems the front spring is too soft, it is causing it to dive in to the corners and the front get "stuck in" not letting it transfer weight back to the rear, giving the impression that the rear isn't rolling and also causing the push you are describing. The yellow spring has been a huge improvement, I gained a half second my first lap out with this change. I might try the orange up front but haven't tested the yellow up front enough, and that's all it might of needed. Sounds like your heading in the right direction. It's also jumping better now. So yeah, the stiffer front spring has been the ticket so far :)

Put Kyosho springs on it you won't have that issue.

I'm basically running the sramos setup but with kyosho orange fronts and yellow rears. Works out well for me so far. I have a little bit of push on wider turns but truck stays balanced in the corners and jumps well. I've always liked how the Kyo's felt and will tune around these springs unless I really see a need to change them up as I don't want to buy too many at $16 a pair. I'm running box stock diff oils which I think is 5-7-3 and will probably go to 7-7-5 outdoor and 7-10-3 indoor and see how it goes from there.

I built this truck the week before AMS 4.0 and I had never driven a corr truck before. I did not add any of the light weight components because I would rather the weight to put down the power. I was able to finish in 3rd overall with a stock truck with just a few changes. Two weeks later at the Bring The Heat race I was able to finish 2nd overall again with a stock truck. This truck needs minor setup changes to put it on the podium. Looking to get my third run this weekend which will just be some practice. I cant wait to try a few more things to only make it better on the track.
