Have any of you tried the viper copperhead series of motors and speed controls?

I raced for the first time ever yesterday and took 3rd out of 12 in all qualifiers, 2nd AMain-1 and 3rd AMain-2. Either I'm just an awesome driver and didnt have the stones to race or the SCT410 is just plain legit, I'm going with the latter...

Still waiting on my EB48 I ordered a month ago, I'm betting its just as good on the track.
Congratulations on your race!! You picked well--yes--the Tekno's are definitely the real deal!!
This forum is filled with lots of great people that are willing to help with any issues/questions you may have!!
Keep in touch and have fun beating up on all those "other" brands out there!!!

May have to pull the trigger on this truck!

Other than the aluminum hexes and servo horn, what else do you guys recommend?

Stock pistons and springs work fine?

Stock pistons work OK, but the popular choice is Kyosho Pistons 1.3x8 (white)

Depending on your track and area stock springs may work. For me I thought they were too soft.

The choice spring rates seem to be 3.8-4.1 for the Fronts and 2.8 to 3.1 for the Rears.

The Wolter, Sramos and Rcgod setups so far seem to be fairly popular. You can find a link on the first page to setup sheets on Teknos site.

It all works fine, I ran bone stock (other than servo horn) for months and the truck was great.

You will eventually want springs, I haven't switched pistons yet myself. Fantastic truck, you will love it!

I had a Durango 4x4 before but that truck was so nimble if I was slightly tapped I would get out of shape pretty quick.

Great truck and durable though.

Can't wait to try this truck out.

1st... How often do you guys break out the diffs and drain and refill your fluids? Also in regards to fluid how often do you drain and refill your shocks?
2nd... I would like to clear the triple section at our track.. Only one guy in the 4x4 has done it.. I know I have the power (4300kv Pro4HD RX8Gen2) I'm running a 15T pinion, so what adjustments would you make on the ESC or Radio?

I'll see you Friday! I've been wondering if I'll be able to clear that triple. If I can't do something consistently I won't do it but I'll sure give it a shot in practice.

I'd say it might depend on how you're hitting the jump. If you're accelerating up the jump, then up the current. If you're wide open and hitting it at full speed, I'd try a 16T. How hot is your motor getting?

With that HD motor your prolly spinning the tires the whole time. Those motors are brutal and grossly overpowered.

It was a pleasure getting to meet the Tekno team (Danny, Matt W., Matt A. and of course Austin Blair) at the 1/8 E Nats this past weekend. They are great guys and really take pride in their products and in this hobby we all love.

Austin's SCT410 was on rails! Of course the EB48 and ET48 were also. Danny said that his setup sheets from the event will be online in the near future. I can't wait to try out his setup that was put together specifically for my home track!!!

Thanks Danny and Tekno for all the support on the forums and this past weekend!

Man would love to see Blairs setup sheet, before this weekend if possible. I might be running on a similar track style.

Oh yeah, Picture time!!

Nice work man keep it up!

I generally entirely disassemble and rebuild my vehicles every two race weekends. If its longer than a week between races I rebuild them after every race.

Shocks- I always run shock boots, I clean them first and then I check the fluids- normally the oil is absolutely clean so if that's the case I'll leave the oil in it, top them off and then cap them.

The tighter your maintenance schedule the better the feel you have for the car and from my experience much less potential for DNFs.

Ran a coupe of 6000mah nano-tech's on my 4300 HD and they did ok for a 6min qualifier. I would favor the SMC's if buying new, but they worked in a pinch.

I did no problem with both the rx8 (current limiter 80) and sct pro (punch 4)
