I'm using the 4000Kv hobbywing with some smc 6500 race formula packs. I've made 8 mins and pretty sure i could go for 10.

I was at that race too and ran 4x4 and ebuggy. Even super blown out is understating how b ad it got midway through 2nd round of quals to the mains. Pretty much took the fun out of it.

Just my couple cents worth... the 7200 pack is 5 grams or something small heavier than the 6500 and $5 or so more. It may not be about can the 6500 make the main, but how much voltage sag are you getting on the last few laps.... 7200 FTW.

Smc has some out of spec race formula 7200's that are $20 or so less, 200-300 mah less with even lower IR. I'm thinking about grabbing one while he still has them even though I don't need one. (Already run 7200 race packs)

I've read about other people having this noise issue. I must've done something wrong cuz mine is almost silent. My friend Jason Snyder said the same thing about his. Maybe my kit was defective? Should I contact Tekno about this, and see if they can send me the loud parts?

i found,by accident, that a lot of the noise comes from the spur gear/pinion. i was switching pinions and put a durango part in and there was a significant drop in noise. when i went back to the tekno pinion the noise came back, cant explain it because i checked the mesh and all was good. the pinions line up as well...

Loud Trucks save lives.. Corner marshals can hear you coming. My truck is kinda loud but on the track I really dont even notice the noise.

5200kv cranking up to full rpm in the air for flight correction is loud.
Normally, not so much.

I haven't driven it yet, but I think the new kit I got and am building is going to be louder. The mesh to the rear diff from the pinion is much more loose, even shimmed as tight as I can make it. We'll see though, hoping to have it out tomorrow for some fun.

Noticing some pretty high gearing on these, I have a 13t pinion on my car (using Pro 4 4600) and I still need to set the EPA to 70% on throttle, far too much on our track! Some of the set ups are using an 18t pinion on a similar motor. In a 5 minute race I am using around 2700mah (RX8 esc)

Mine is also very quite. Even when I was first testing the truck with the brand new spur, it was still quite. It might be because I use Novak pinions.

I've bent my rear shock tower. Should it lay flat on a piece of glass?

It looks like it's got a little factory bend in it.

One thing I found was that when you tighten the screw to set the mesh, it can cause the motor to twist in the mount. This will make the pinion run at an angle, causing excess wear and noise. I try to hold the motor straight when I tighten the screws.

I've noticed this on mine as well. Mine has got just a little curve too it. Nothing major. Was it like this stock or is it bent?
