I'm getting ready to get my truck setup for the move to the outdoor season and was thanking about building my shocks vented, what are the advantages or disadvantages of vented shock? Is there any rule of thumb thicker oil stiffer springs?

Ha ha. I was thinking the same thing !!! Today I will .. Sunday was the my first day outside at rc madness for practice . The track has not been groomed yet this year so it still has a ton of loose stuff on it. It is being resurfaced this week. I have to say though, this truck ate up that big 1/8 track!!! First big outdoor track I have been on and I could not be happier... To the point where the guy next to me driving his losi eight stopped and said "what is that?", as I was pulling him in the corners And jumping pretty much just as well. I asked if he wanted to drive , he responded oh no no no I never like driving other people's cars... I took another lap and he stopped again and said I can I try lol. Took him a lap correct nose dive and he too was laying down laps. He is not a racer , doesn't drive shortcourse , and now he wants a tekno after 4 laps. It's amazing how easy this truck is to drive fast. I have had 4-5 of these experiences where people stop and want to try, everyone loves it and lays down laps right away. 5 weeks with this truck and not a single issue. Season opener at RC Madness this Sunday... Get there

koiva, you've convinced me. haha. seriously, after seeing your truck the last couple of weeks, i'm getting one.

Just wondering..Is there enough room to run a Tekin 550 4.5 motor with the soudering post of a RX8 facing the back of the motor? if yes, looks like the motor wires will be about a inch long...

Thanks,:)

If you look at some of the pics others have done, they have the wires coming in from the pinion side of the motor instead of just straight over from esc to motor.

I have it from esc to motor and the wires are about an inch long and there is no issues. Although it seems a little tight when I go to get the motor and plate off to clean or redo the middle diff oil. Can't get the motor out of the way enough.

Why don't you clean that hunk of junk???

Because we actually run "REAL" offroad!! Clay is nice, but i think the inconsistencies of an outdoor track make it clear who the better driver is, both setup wise and driving wise. It takes a lot more to get a truck around a track when the conditions are different every heat.

Yes it fits. I tripled up on servo tape underneath so it it is tall enough to clear the side guard. And I had to trim. 2mm off the angled part of the guard. Fits like a glove.

Thanks! tight glove:nod:

*sigh*

was hoping to get in another carpet track run before configuration changes but the facility wasn't running when we got there.

Oh well, will give me a chance to give the truck a tear down and rebuild along with its brother EB48.

I would love to have a massive RCTech meet to separate the men from the boys... :sneaky:

I fixed my nose dive issue by going to green Tekno springs in the back with 30wt AE oil. Might go up a little on oil though.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

for guys running on dirt, say medium traction conditions or anywhere super soft tires are common, are you running the full toe settings or have you going to less like 3.5?

Trying to decide what way to go with an initial setup for a race coming on the 20th.

Yeah thats what I did. I didn't like the wires completely going over the ESC so I just flipped the RX8 around. I also like that the sensored connection and the buttons on the ESC are more protected as well.

its tempting after seeing the performance of my sct410. but honestly serpent is the best kit I have ever built. its performance is unreal, the fit and finish as well as materials used far surpass any manufacturer imo... it is truly a full blow race kit from the factory!! honestly I wish serpent came out with their 4x4 sc already but I will have to wait until 2014. with that being said I do love my tekno and sure I would do very well with the eb48 but for 1/8--- serpent 811Be 2.0 ftw
