Yep absolutely! :-) stock rates are way off. The racers that I've told to run higher rates have really liked the overall improvements.

Stock spring rates are to soft but tekno makes great springs. I probably run green and greenon the 410. Out of the box on eb48 is yellow front/rear. They feel great on buggy.

What are you'r guys thought on the Mamba Max pro esc with the Tekno? Ie feel, heat, longevity etc...

Thanks-

Can't comment on the MMP in the tekno specifically, but, in the SC10 4x4 from what I have read and what I saw briefly before taking it out of my previous sc10 4x4 was that its stock BEC was not up to the task with high power servos and high power motors on 2S.

Loved the ESC in my 1/8 vehicles on 4S, but got cogging, etc. instantly when I put it in my SC10 4x4.

I have read those who do use it, you pretty much need the external BEC. it works then though it won' deliver power like the RX8.

For me, the Speed Passion GT2.0 ESC has been working excellent for 2 pole 550 and 4 Pole 540 motors I have tried. Love its size as well in my Tekno.

Cain, thanks for your response. I already got a external BEC sitting in my rx from the sc104wd. Dang it I thought by getting a "good" esc "rx8" I would have no problems... at least for more than a month of running. I guess I can try the MMP with the ext BEC and see how it feels. When I get the rx8 i'll just keep it as a spare.

thanks sir-

If you want a cheap esc while your tekin out. i've been running the brushless hobbies lt4 in my tekno without any problems with no bec. I updated mine to the hobbywing v3 software.

Where did you get that esc from?

Nope they don't work with my setup. The stiffer rates have the longer springs and where the shock locations that work very good I can't get 25-26mm. Honestly tekno needs more spring options cause they will lose profit on a lot of people finding springs elsewhere.

What motor will you be running?

edonsohc 03-28-2013 11:41 AM

i run the mmp w/ no bec. i do have a capacitor plugged into the receiver. i run a savox 1258 servo also. no problems so far. i do have some cogging issues, but i'm running a non sensored motor. the mmp i have does not like non sensored 4 pole motors. runs sensored just fine though.

i also have the earlier version of the lt4 esc with the hobbywing software. i was running it to begin with, but had a wire come unsoldered, so i switched to the mmp until i could get it resoldered. had no issues w/ the brushless hobbies 120amp esc either.

I'm running the MMPro in mine with a 3300 Pro4 on 3s, no issues. I don't run an external BEC or a glitch buster and my servo is a Hitec 7955. I run the MMP's bec at 7v. The only "negative" I've found is that the MMP cannot deliver the same amount of power to the motor as the RX8 can. I put negative in parenthesis because most people are using the RX8's current limiter anyway, so it's kind of even. I like to say the MMP has a non-adjustable current limiter :)

I also run a MMP in my EB48 with a Trackstar 2100 kv motor on 4s, all other electronics are the same and it works fine.

well, I cant really say I love the MMP. it is a good price for a 6s esc and the software is pretty cool. But mine liked to cog in sensored mode and never felt right. If you plan to run 2s, I would look at the orion r10 pro 2-3s 160 amp esc or the viper vtx. Another cost effect esc that people seem to like is the nobbywing s ct pro which is like $89 from HWNA. Since you will be getting your tekin back eventually, I would get the HW sct pro as a bandaid and if you really like it you can sell your tekin.

that's exactly what I'm doing. Had two RX8's die at PNB. So I got a SCT Pro for my 410 and my Mugen conversion to try. I'm already liking the programming box and no longer having to pull the plug out of the receiver.

I've been using an MMP and a HW motor from day one without any problems. I also use the MMP and a Tekin 2050kv motor in my eb48. Runs fine, smooth. To save cash if you don't already have an MMP go to Ebay and look up scte rtr. It has Losi stickers on it but it's just a rebadged MMP. You get these $20 to $30 cheaper than if it has Castle stickers on it, go figure. I use the Castle link to turn up the voltage so I haven't had any issues with brown outs with my Savox 1256 servos, that's what I run in most of my rigs including e-truggy.

Just a note here about motors, I normally run either Castle or Tekin motors. I kept hearing from a lot of guys on this forum that I trust raving about the HobbyWing motors so I took out a Tekin 4600 and replaced it with a HW 4700. I couldn't be happier, plenty of smooth power and runs cool and I get great run times. Don't get me wrong I like Tekin products but I also love saving money.

For me, the sct410 was too heavy for the MMP running on 2s with a pro4 4000. The amp rating was a bit low. I swapped it for an rx8 and could feel more low end. It'd be fine if you went to higher voltage though i bet. The MMP might be ok with a 550 can though.. haven't tried that.

I'm curious to see how the new Tekno pro4 HD 4300kv motors will perform. I know that motor won't qualify for ROAR events but who cares. For most of us ROAR rules don't make any difference. The main reason I'm interested is the extra power. The dumb part about it is right now I'm running a HW 4700kv motor and it has big time power but it's always fun to find a motor that's stronger! LOL

Wildcat1971 03-28-2013 04:58 PM

Its a tekin motor. And I would think they would run cooler
