I just switched from the MIP to the SCT410. The MIP chassis was nice, it had a nice balanced feel and was very stable. It had tons of rear end bite, but took some tinkering to get the steering I was looking for (anti-squat, short drag link, thin diff fluids)

The SCT410 has the steering out the box (almost). I tried more Ackerman and had to turn my DR down to 60% to finish the heat. The SCT410 seems to be a little less responsive to tuning than the MIP chassis in some respects, and so far seems to have a inherently loose rear end. It reminds me a lot of my Durango.

Now that the "bad" is out this truck handles like no other. Even though I may have been a little too loose for my liking it never got out of hand. It took a lot to upset the truck while cornering and it flies like a dream. So far I am very happy with my switch, I'm just nervous of how the truck will do on a low traction track.

All in all your logic of buying a used MIP and having money left over is a thin line. More than likely your gonna spend that extra money on outdrives, driveshafts, and ball ends.

Thanks man. Im leaning towards the tekno the more i look around. And worse case i know theres a demand and will have no problem moving it. And actually if tower had them in stock id probably order one today lol

Have you worked on the rear end at all? Im kind of a traction crybaby. I raced touring cars forever so the slow is fast stuff in the dirt bugs me lol. Thats why im hoping switching from.2wd to 4wd works better for me

That guy doesn't fool around, it's 9am Monday and I just got an email telling me my order has shipped. Being in Portland I should have it by Wed or Thurs at the latest. That's real good service imo.

Before the change, I had gone to 40/37.5 oils and dropped the front diff to 5k.

Now: I'm still trying to get used to a 3diff Truck. (Hardcore and succesful Sc10 4x4 Driver) Barry's setup feels smooth and clean. I enjoy driving it, but it doesn't feel "fast". Now correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm very much used to a knife's edge Truck, My Sc10 4x4. Barry's setup feels slower and times are a little slower. (about .550) than my shock oil and front diff change off stock

Running Tight indoor highbite Clay: TopGear Hobbies

I still need time to eliminate my style with the SC10 on this car, but I feel like the setup change slowed me down from the ability of a slight tweak stock setup.

Thoughts?

have you tried looking at less rear toe-in? stock and barry's setup if I recall correctly is 4.5 degrees of toe. Coming from an SC10 4x4 like you, that was one of the first things that helped plant the rear end for me was more toe. You may find (and I hope to as well) that going with less toe frees up the rear end for you.

I went with 3.5 degrees to see how it goes.

spunkysandoval 02-04-2013 11:15 AM

Amain has a 25.00 off code so it will only be 25.00 less and no wait time

Yes, its better, but still not where my MIP Losi was. Thats what concerns me about going to my local track which is low bite. On the high bite track I was already at min anti-squat, braces removed, hubs forward, max toe and swapped the sway bars front to back. I even changed a few diff fluids, shock fluids, and fiddled with the camber links. It never really went away, it just moved around. The only thing I didn't really mess with was the droop settings. I think limiting it some more will help a bit.
