Before the change, I had gone to 40/37.5 oils and dropped the front diff to 5k.

Now: I'm still trying to get used to a 3diff Truck. (Hardcore and succesful Sc10 4x4 Driver) Barry's setup feels smooth and clean. I enjoy driving it, but it doesn't feel "fast". Now correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm very much used to a knife's edge Truck, My Sc10 4x4. Barry's setup feels slower and times are a little slower. (about .550) than my shock oil and front diff change off stock

Running Tight indoor highbite Clay: TopGear Hobbies

I still need time to eliminate my style with the SC10 on this car, but I feel like the setup change slowed me down from the ability of a slight tweak stock setup.

Thoughts?

Go up in the center diff. It'll be harder to drive, but forward bite will improve as well as off power tight turning.

You think keep Barry's and just bring the front down? (I like this because i'm LAZY! )

Yep, that's what I would do, to get more turn in off power going into all those sharp turns :D

AlanHall...Are you following me?! LOL Saw you a bunch over at the desc210 thread. Brother...holy crud is this thing different from the Durnie! So much more precise and dialed right off the build stand. You will be amazed at how good this thing is, and well designed, oh heck yes. Do it and put a hobbywing 4K motor and start with a 15 tooth pinion in it and dont look back. My old durnie was more stable than the sc10 and this thing is just a whole new game..

Funny i was just going to ask what gearing for that motor in this truck. Already installed a 15t, but i'll run it and see if i need to go up a tooth or 2.

LoL guess so man. Looking for a awesome truck. The 2wd durango was ok. But just was never 100% comfy in my head with it i guess. Im looking for something i xan srive a little garder than a 2wd.

Im contemplating this truck and a MIP setup because basically the MIP would be used and i would have cash for other stuff id need.

Are the pictures that come up in google of the truck with the skinny chassis just with out the plastic sides?

Edit : nvm. I see its already a $100 option :-(

I run a HW 4k motor with a 16T pinion... It seems the general rule from converted from other trucks is to go up 2 teeth.

Well I just ordered a bunch of Tekno parts and everytime I do this they release another cool part, the air guards being the last ones, so.....

your all welcome. ;)

AlanHall 02-04-2013 08:31 AM

Where do you shop for parts. Id like to poke around. Any more specific date when tower maybe have some? Definitely my cheapest route to one.

I get everything straight from Tekno. The only thing I wish they had on the site was a wish list.

I just switched from the MIP to the SCT410. The MIP chassis was nice, it had a nice balanced feel and was very stable. It had tons of rear end bite, but took some tinkering to get the steering I was looking for (anti-squat, short drag link, thin diff fluids)

The SCT410 has the steering out the box (almost). I tried more Ackerman and had to turn my DR down to 60% to finish the heat. The SCT410 seems to be a little less responsive to tuning than the MIP chassis in some respects, and so far seems to have a inherently loose rear end. It reminds me a lot of my Durango.

Now that the "bad" is out this truck handles like no other. Even though I may have been a little too loose for my liking it never got out of hand. It took a lot to upset the truck while cornering and it flies like a dream. So far I am very happy with my switch, I'm just nervous of how the truck will do on a low traction track.

All in all your logic of buying a used MIP and having money left over is a thin line. More than likely your gonna spend that extra money on outdrives, driveshafts, and ball ends.
