I think the weight concerns are unfounded. Has anyone here that has driven an eb48 expressed any concerns with weight regarding the SCT 410? Just curious.
You will be hard pressed to find a better vehicle in terms of drivetrain efficiency, durability, and performance. This is based off my EB48 experience. I would like to know what Danny recommends for Mah rating on battery packs for say an RX8 and a properly geared pro4 4000kv motor? To give an example of the EB 48 drivetrain efficiency, I ran a standard RX8 T8 1900 18T pinion in a 15 minute main against nitros last weekend. Afterward i gave it to my buddy to try and he ran another 5-6 minutes and it was still goin strong. This is all on a Haiyin 5000mah 30c 4s, not a fancy over C rated high dollar battery. I think this efficiency is attributable to the EB48s drivetrain efficiency, Tekin efficiency and a good battery pack ( that cost 35 bucks). Sure a lighter sct may sound sexy but a lot of these lightweights break if you look at them funny as they are 1/10 based? And they use ball cups. Don't even get me started on that craptastic design element. It is a legitimate concern, and your experience doesn't exactly translate to 1/10 sct because you are comparing a 4s system to a 2s system. If you run 10 min mains you are hardpressed to make 10 mins with a losi and therefore it would be logical to conclude a vehicle of the same weight could have the same issues. I also happen do drive one of the so called light weight SCT and durability is not an issue unless you drive like a ass hack, and the lightweight nature makes electronics happy. I do fully expect this truck to rock! and will try to get it as light as possible as soon as I get it for Christmas ( Please Tekno!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) |
For once release dates are managed nicely by a brand.
The order is logical too IMO. Tekno was doing the best 1/8 conversions on the market already and other brands were late to release a high end buggy with one single lipo designed specificaly for electric (except the Hyper 9E). So the EB48 came out and is now a leader. SCT 4WD weren't really optimised either because they couldn't choose between being based on a 1/10 2WD SCT or a 1/8 buggy. It seems the second option will be the future and here is the SCT410 which is based on the EB48. IMO both were designed at the same time. The wait was just a security to have the funds from the sold EB48s and a validation of its design. What's more releasing a car after another helps to keep the buzz alive. If you release 2 cars together most of the drivers will only buy one. If you release a buggy first without speaking about the SCT they will buy it and once the SCT is released they will need it too. Simple. The truggy market would need some new electric models but there is not much racing for them so for me it would be 50/50. Tekno is made for racers. Concerning other classes it will be more difficult because the cars are designed and improved since a very long time. There is always something new to bring out but the margin is much more reduced for a brand like tekno who is based on innovation. Now my noob analysis has ended  |
better people hounding you than ignoring! :)
I figure a truggy would be quicker to make than say a 1/10 2wd buggy unless they plan to make something along the lines of Kyosho's 1/7 lol. |
I just hope there will be enough to fill all the preorders
|
yeah, wouldn't be surprised it sells out fast. Excited here for sure like everyone else.

The SC410 is the first modern SCT based on a 1/8 buggy so no doubt it will be a success. It should be much stronger than the others.. Funny to see AE missed it with the SC8E. They just had to release a RC8E based SCT with a SC10 body and they would be selling many of them now :D. When you see guys on forums converting their cars from a plateform to another (1/8 to 1/10 SCT 4WD), it means there is a market in most cases. Now we are waiting for a 4wd SCT based on the eco, but wait... it's an old design

Yeah, and oddly enough, we really enjoy it. It's a great thing when there is desire for the products you work so hard to produce.
