I ordered one of the very first kits have never broke one and I race 2-3 times a week at all different types of tracks I had a kid locally break two if them so he asked me to look at his truck it turned out he was running the wrong offset wheel once he changed to proper offset he hasn't broken one since

Using the correct offset helps a lot. Local guy was braking them too. Switched to the correct offset and now no breaks.

same here. 2 PNB's and 2 AMS's now with an original release truck. I had a buddy break one at that first PNB and he's been good since. Tekno cares and if there is a problem I trust that they'll handle it.

If you break another axle, try getting them directly from Tekno next time.

In another thread I was reading (different forum), a member posted pics of replacement axles that were supposed to be the version that Tekno had fixed. Problematic stub axles were all black finish and new run axles were shiny at the area where the hexes and wheels go...anyone? Will post pics but not sure if it is acceptable to borrow from others photobucket acct.

Not saying you should or shouldn't but if they make it public, then it's public. You can find many pics of mine online and wouldn't care if they were recycled and doubt the other guy would would either.

Yeah makes sense. This is what I am referring to: http://i1112.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1aaddc42.jpg

I've had the initial run kit and another kite a few months and a couple revisions after. I finally broke an axle the other day, but only after wearing it completely out (no pin holes on the CVD side even remotely usable). I've driven on huge air 8th scale tracks and usually 3 times a week on indoor clay. I've used several brands of wheels (all zero offset with no rubbing ribs) and a few different wheel nuts without issue.

That being said, I have an idea that I will try to check out at the track tonight to see if it might work for folks.

I have one of the first run trucks and I've only broken one axle. It was when I was running sc-10 4x4 +3 offset wheels. Haven't run them since and have had no breakages. Best truck I've ever owned!

My replacement pieces were all black. That's interesting.

Still going 17mm issue or no issue to get a stronger interface with the wheel & hex reducing deflection... and I have sets of 17mm wheels & tires ready to go :)

I've switched mine over to a SL buggy for the time being but would go this route for the same reasons.

Tekno has said that these were a run were something went wrong with that blackening. It was not affecting strength acording to them.

I have one of the first kits and I am still on the stock axles. But if/when they break/wear out I am going 17mm. The 5/6mm stub axles are just two small for these modern big fast 4x4 SC trucks in my opinion. Most of the time they work fine, but they can break/bend under the right conditions. I have never heard of anyone snapping a 17mm stub.

In the year or so that i have been running the super light conversion Ive broken 5 of the out drives for the 17mm conversion. They have taken a lot of abuse but its growing old to keep replacing them and constant replacement of the CV pins. My buddy's with full EB-48 never break anything . With running the smaller SCT tires should cut down on the stress along with the mounting surface being mounted farther in-bored taking a lot of leverage off the out drive. looks like a sweet setup you guys have come up with!
