The only difference from '17 to '18 is the chassis, side plates and motor mount to lower the motor along with some "production detail" updates all of which adds up to place the motor about half a mil lower. In other words, unless that itself is what you want, there's nothing else you should be losing sleep about not having.

One of the details not to overlook is the updated shock guides. They make a huge difference in the feel of the car.

Yes, The biggest difference is the new shocks. They are 1000 times better then before, not something to overlook. My springs don't rub on the shock bodies, which was a major issue I had with their older shocks. The pistons are better as well.

So they were terrible (worst ever) before?

Gross exaggeration isn't helpful.

I just built a 2017 about a month ago and both rear shocks springs rubbed against the shock body. I rotated the springs until I found a position where the rubbing was minimal or stopped completely. I check them after each run to make sure they arent rubbing, if they are I will rotate the spring to get them to stop.

Just curious, wouldn't that be a characteristic of the spring by how well it keeps its at rest form under compression or is that what you are talking about?

its not the complete shocks. Its the guides, and piston set. There is not a new part number because xray made a running change.

It's been so long since I built anything Xray until putting together my '18 last week that I didn't realize the shocks were so previously bad those were noteworthy.
Thanks for adding the clarification.

Seems like there’s some confusion about the shocks. I understand the plastic internals have changed, same part number but marked as V2. Some are saying the bodies are different, but the manual doesn’t indicate anything different, not marked as V2.
Anyone know for sure?

Um... ask around. The shocks before had issues, not a gross exaggeration.
