If you do not adjust the slipper properly YOU will destroy the diff and drive bevel gears.
does an old manual mean I got an old kit as well? When i ordered it I specifically asked that it be the new 2014 kit. How do I tell if I got the newest version?

I must have the only XB4 that pushes out of the box. I was surprised how much steering I had to add especially after reading review after review of how much the car steers for them. After a few changes I about got it there. Excellent build and seems to handle very well.

Dunno about that. The D413 guys run almost a locked center diff (100k oil for high bite) and keep stripping spurs (sure its a combination of metal ring gears and a diff). Still not convinced its needed in a 1/10 size car unless its with metal spurs as well.

Yeah that would be awesome and I would also like bigger diff cases for center (less chance of oil breaking down fast like the tki3). And also a shorty with center diff case movable back and forth (tunable for weight placement like the JQ white car)

White slipper pad= 2014. Black pad =2013
2 holes on the back left and right for the chassis weights
Also removable shim in the rear

Those are the easiest things to notice right away

Hi Guys,

Looking at getting the XB4. Going to be running mod on an outdoor rough track.

What electronics would you recommend?

Should I run the box settings or would I better of changing the setup from the start?

Are there any options or hop-ups I should get right away?

Thanks

I run mine at 6.3 and haven't stripped anything in nearly 6 months of running it. My track is mid traction so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it as well.

I have the 2014 as well and the manual that came with it also specified the wrong slipper settings. I believe if you download the latest manual from the Xray site it shows the correct slipper settings.

I have the newer pads and spring and I run mine at 6.00mm. I race at a clay track which is considered med-high traction. I have stripped a set of front bevel/pinion gears but looking back it was likely me being a donkey by gunning it to try and jump over some tile drainage tubing outlining the track.

Tyler vik's reedy setup is a good starting point and the avid 1.5 and 1.6 pistons are a must.
