I use the TLR 70t spur and Losi slipper pads with 17.5 NT. The Kyosho's slipper plates rest perfectly on the Losi slipper pads, whereas they rest on the AE/Kimbrough spur gears themselves.

Until Kyosho releases a smaller spur gear (Pillars knows we need one!), this is the best combo of spur/slipper pad so you can still utilize the slipper (if you want to?), without locking down onto the spur gear itself. Some run 17.5 NT with locked slippers... Others (myself included), prefer the feel a slipper provides. Either way, you have options!

The AVID topshaft for RB5 / RB6 is coming within a couple weeks. We improved on the gear mesh and it will also allow you to run the Triad slipper system which makes down to a 69 tooth spur! Part number AV1020-TOP-KYO

Hey guys what is the difference between the 2 ring and 3 ring axels. I traded awhile back for a RB5 and the guy included the aluminum hub carriers and they have the 3 ring axel stubs. Just trying to figur out which axels to use. Thx.

Run the 3 ring. Initially the RB5 had short arms, short CVDs and long axles. They came out with some revisions and eventually ended up with longer arms, longer CVDs and shorter axles which the 3 stripe represent.

the 3 ring axles are the long ones, they require a 3mm shim. The 2 line axles require no shims.

Just wish to say that having all 3 hole options on one arm is so much more convenient than seperate 521 and 521-1 rb5 arms, which essentially grew out of the ZX-5. So obvious and simple. Man, the rb5 looks so old..

I remember reading that there was a typo in the instructions for the thrust balls in the diff. Is it 7 or 8 balls?

The axles you are referring to are the ones that go on the 65.5 mm drive shafts that were introduced with the RB5 SP conversion.

It looks old but the guys here in La La land still running it dominate in stock. But there fewer and fewer for them sue to the increase of people switching to the 6.

same thing with the JConcepts 12mm b4.1 wheels. I have used the serrated nuts and it just fits. standard nuts won't make it on.
