Tried the car with Gold front springs and lower weight oil. Felt better but still had too much steering for me. Move the hub spacers and lengthened the wheelbase by about 4mm that had a market effect on reducing the rotation of the car - making it smoother and easier to drive for me. Still not 100% happy with how the car is jumping but I've just changed to the 3 gear laydown config from the 4 gear and look forward to trying it in the next week or so weather allowing.

Have my first race Sat after next - looking forward to that despite knowing i'll get hammered haha.

Looks like you need to punch a hole in that right/front tire.

Buggy looks really good.

If interested, here is the spring colors for Kyosho.

Thanks mate. Yeah, those wheels and tyres don't work at our clay track so are just for looking at atm haha - but the red closed cell Aka inserts really don't fill out the JC barcodes - I should have used the old open cell inserts.

Thanks. Do Gold springs seem about right to you for a high grip outdoor clay track, reasonably bumpy, with a few doubles?

Still thinking i may go back to red up front to get less front traction and more rear.

Cheers, Dom

XGS is beginning to be discontinued, so please try other springs.

A lot of people used to use Associated springs, may want to check those out.

Gold is too light, in my opinion. It also depends on how well your buggy is jumping. If the nose keeps dropping, go with stiffer springs.

I use AE springs on my buggy. They are half the price of Kyosho ones.

I raced it for the first time on Saturday. While i raced briefly 8 years ago (maybe 3 race meets) this was essentially my first race.

The format was cut down due to mothers day weekend so they ran 2x 5min qualifiers and 2x 7min mains. I missed the first qualifier as the servo horn screw sheared off inside the servo on the warmup lap. In the second qualifier I made a lot of mistakes, probably due to first time nerves, and only qualified 9th of 15.

In the first A-main I focussed on driving smoothly and not pushing and managed to finish 4th, not needing any marshalling all race.

The second main I also finished 4th, however the club transponder (forgot mine) was glitching and it didn't record lap times. Overall I finished 5th of 15 which i was very happy with.

The car drove really well. I don't think there's really anything I need to change wrt setup for now, i just need to improve my driving.

Cheers, Dom
