What is the best gearing for a 17.5 for a small, technical indoor dirt track? Thanks.

The track is hard packed black dirt.

Diff is usually a barking noise. slipper a bit more of a squeal i would say. squeak could be a bearing as well

I couldn't wait for the 2.0 to come out in Oct, so I bought a used 22SCT and converted it to mid-motor. I got a killer deal with a Tekin RS ESC, so it was worth it. The previous owner said he had a lot of the 2.0 upgrades on the truck already. Being new to this platform, I can't tell the difference between the original vs. the 2.0 parts.

I've already ordered the Exotek steering rack because the slider that's in the truck now has a ton of slop. I also rebuilt the shocks using the machined cartridge components and 2.0 o-rings.

I plan on ordering the 2.0 spindles/rear hubs and caster blocks, but before I do, is there a way to confirm which version is already on my truck? Are there visual cues that can tell me one way or the other? Obviously I don't want to order the 2.0 parts if they are actually already on there.

If the front caster blocks are the 1.0, there will be a small spacer between the block and the arm where it mounts on the kingpin. If it's the 2.0, the block will fit into the arm without using the spacer. Just an easy way to tell the caster blocks at least.

Thank you very much Jon, that is exactly what I was looking for . I'll check it out when I get home. Is there any way to distinguish the 1.0 vs. 2.0 rear hubs?

2.0 rear hubs have 6 holes. 1.0 hubs have 8 holes.

There isn't really a benefit to switching them out unless you need more clearance based on your camber link location.

If you go the Exo route, just make sure you read the docs on the Exo site (before you buy...) and measure your servo height. Its well explained.
I dont think this is correct man. In the Exotek directions is shows the bellcrank being installed with a 6040. I just sold my savox 1258 and bought a 6040 because i didnt want to drop another $30 on a servo mount.

According the specs for the savox 1251 mg low profile servo, it should be compatible with the Exotek 22 steering rack ver 2. I have the low profile servo and plan on ordering the steering rack next month

CRAP! I wish I would have seen this post before I ground down a perfectly good aluminum servo horn attached to a Savox Servo in order to get it to fit under the front bulkhead arms

I have a bunch of servo's in my spares box that will work (i.e. XP, JR & ProTek). I just ordered the Exotek steering rack with a new TLR aluminum servo horn, so I should be good to go when it arrives, but thanks for the heads up. The only thing I don't like about that Low Profile Savox are the specs. Even though its a 2wd, I feel like it needs a bit more torque to turn a big ole SC wheel especially on high bite tracks.

Hello,

I want to know more about Team Losi Racing 22 SCT 2WD.

1. Is this car easy to drive for asphalt on road racing ? In my country, on-road short course racing is becoming more popular. Racers usually piloting 4wd team losi scte and tekno racing 4wd. I want to use 22 SCT 2WD for simplicity reason. Am I going to be disappointed chosing 2WD truck ?

2. As part of on-road SC racing regulations in here ..... Racers are required to use 1/8 On Road GT Tires. Usually they use Sweep Racing tires. Therefore , 17mm Hex Adapter must be use for aforementioned tires. Is this fit ? MIP 17mm Hex Adapter Kit, Traxxas Slash 2wd #10114.

3. Do u have any suspension setup suggestions for asphalt racing ? Should I use middle or rear motor mount location ? I prefer to have stable rear end rather than fish tailing rear end.

Thank you for enlightening me.

1. 2wd vs. 4wd - The 2wd will be harder to set up and make fast but I think set up properly it can be faster because of weight savings. It will not be as easy as slapping down a heavy 4wh truck and throwing HP at it.

2. 17mm - Can't help on that one. There are quite a few different 17mm adapters systems out there. Not sure which ones work and work best.

3. Setup - For on road, there should be no question, mid motor. As far as setups go, if there are no jumps, stiffen it and lower it as much as possible, try it, soften up as needed to get traction. If there are jumps, then look at at setups from some of the sugar watered off road races as a starting point.
