We will also be upgrading the esc's as well, so I think we will be OK with a sensored motor...I will double check though before I get the esc, we were going to go with HW, or brushless hobbies esc, as we just can't do the tekins yet.

I just think the family spec class is funny. if you cant trust family who can you trust, lol.

Yeah, you know it is the one's closest to you who think they can take the most liberty...and then they play dumb. "Well, I didn't know..." :sneaky:

It's totally all in fun though, but since I am the one with the (most) RC experience, I'm in charge of the vehicles.

bashers and back yard racers like them. It would probably be ok in a sc, but a buggy or t4, lol. If you want 2 poles try these. I have no idea if they are rebuildable, but they are so cheap that you just us it till it dies , then buy a new one.

BTW, I used to race at Ascot raceway down in So Cal back in the early 90s with my RC10 graphite that I built in 1989, which I still have .

The speedpassion website will have better prices, because you buy direct.

Where is the short course esc for like $39 http://www.speedpassion.net/us/produ...?p=11036&c=ESC

jfharper 09-24-2012 12:03 PM

Thanks, we have a little more budget to include the esc. I was thinking esc for under $75, and motor for under $75...

BTW, what have you heard/experienced with brushless hobbies?

We are really looking for reliability in both electronics, rebuildable/service-able/cleanable for the motor, replacement parts like bearings for the motor perhaps a common size so we could buy from avid...within that price range

Wildcat1971 09-24-2012 12:13 PM

ok, so your budget is $150 for motor and esc. The current BH esc's are randomly dying. They are copies of the HW 2.1 platform. If it were me starting out and wanting tunable and replaceable parts, I would get the HW 60amp esc and reedy sonic 13.5 motor. You wont need more than 60 maps for what you are doing. And you can hook the esc to your computer and tune it up or use a program card. The reedy sonic motors are nice and fully rebuildable. They are smooth and have a good amount of power. In fact this esc is the one I am looking to get for my kid. I am currently running the brushless hobbies in all my cars, but the are the gen1 versions, not the lt4. The LT4's have more issues with dying that I would like. And the quality has gone down hill.

The esc I would recommend is this one.

Anyway, those are a lot of options, I am sure you can find what you need from those links. And keep the price down.

Has anybody got an opinion or reviews on the Integy Alloy chasis?

Wildcat1971 09-24-2012 02:48 PM

I think it will bend....like all aluminum chassis do.

+3 wheels

Just getting back into racing was wondering if most setups are running the +3 wheels now for the 2wd SC10?

Yes, it is the new standard.

Thanks Matt! I saw this post you made awhile ago. Still using and like the Avid wheels? Just saw the Avid hexes they look great.

Planning on swapping the Associated steering blocks and axles to run the hexes on my FT, any issues that I might need to address.

The Avid wheels are great, perfect fit on the hex and not as stiff as some of the others out there. They are available in black, white and yellow.

and if you buy them in a pack of 6 you get a break on the price....cant beat that!

Yup! I use all the Avid parts and springs on my AE cars...Superb Quality and excellent customer service. You shouldn't have any issues with the ae parts, just follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

SC 10

Newb here, looking to purchase my first RC 1/10 scale short course truck. Not sure if the SC10 is the best choice. Any input would be great.
