You can use a lot of the setup info with the exception of springs and oil. That might take a little Experimenting. Just remember don't make a lot of changes at the same time or you won't know what your changes are doing.

Hey guys I'm having issues with my servo. This is the one I have. I think the problem is I'm not getting any torque. When it's on the stand the wheels turn fine, but on the ground the wheels either don't turn, or turn very slowly, or only really turn when I'm on the throttle.

It says it's a 6V servo and I'm using it with Castle's Sidewinder 3 ESC. Castle has stated the ESC outputs 5.1V to the servo and it cannot be changed. Not sure if that's the issue or not. Could there be something in my steering linkage that's screwed up? I bought it as a roller chassis with an aluminum steering horn set to the maximum length.

TIA

If you go to the setup section of the rc10.com website there are plenty of setups for the sc10 with small bores. Look under discontinued models. The maifield setup was a go to for a long time.

Also, thinking about buying a sensorless motor and running the SC700 ESC to gain some speed and stay on a budget. Truck feels slow compared to my 2wd buggy. Any suggestions or should I go sensored ESC/motor?

Check to see that there is no binding in the steering linkage with the servo disconnected and the front end off the ground. My experience with that brand of servo is that they are simply garbage. I had the exact same model and it absolutely did not match their posted specifications. Basically you get what you pay for. Good servos make a huge difference.

bds: There didn't appear to be any binding before I put in the servo. I'll double-check that though.

Someone suggested that the servo saver upper & lower may be separating, as in there isn't enough spring force to hold them together. Could this be the issue?

Could it be the low voltage from the ESC?

What about the longer servo horn? Wouldn't that result in quicker response time but less force driving the steering turnbuckles?

Busted a servo yesterday at the track apparently.

Likely upgrading to a savox 1258, what is the best horn to use with this servo and our trucks? Also any additional hardware I need? Wanting to try to get my order in at some point tonight with everything I need. I know the Savox has 25t but no clue on the stock sc10rs steering servo, so I'm assuming I will need a new horn?

Rick I dunno about the Savox but when I got my servo it came with an assortment of horns. Also, the stock ones didn't fit it.

I've been using the Racers Edge aluminum 25 with my Savox servos for quite a while now. drewbagel, trust me, buy a decent servo and you will be much happier. I know they cost some dough but an even marginally decent servo will make a pretty huge difference on how fun the truck is to drive. The Savox 1258 is nice because it has quite good specs for this vehicle, metal gears, and isn't insanely expensive. If you want to PM me I can give you some other ideas for servos that would suck big time.

There's a thread for it already. It's basically a speculation thread. If it's similar to the B5 line I'm buying one.

Way too many models to try and keep up with.

Well, I have that same servo that I have used in my SC10 before and it does lack in torque a bit. Your lower voltage BEC probably isn't helping either.

Just for giggles I tried to run this thing off of an old Novak Duster II brushed speed control which has a 5 volt BEC and it couldn't even get the thing to turn.

These servos like a higher-rated BEC. It's runs ok off of my Hobbyking 120 amp servo that has a 5.75 volt bec.
