I only lost the front bumper out of 3 years with this truck and it has been though 4 beginner drivers so it did take a beating. This is with a 17.5 turn motor though. So say a 4.5 would be a lot more damaging when you hit something.

Hey guys, wondering if I can get some newb help here, read a lot about how to set up this truck, and due to being very new to this hobby, I didn't really understand it all with all the acronyms and stuff I see. So basically, me and my gf each picked up an sc10rs rtr, after a few practice sessions at the local track, I'm noticing one big issue we are both having, handling. This track is carpet, with some decent sized jumps and a mixture of hairpins and big sweepers. I'm seeing other guys in short course trucks just railing corners, where my truck is going way too wide, and I'm losing the rear a lot, can't tell if the front is pushing into the corners or not though. I have a faster steering servo on mine now, which did help a little, so I'm wondering what else I can do to our trucks to get them to handle sharper and better overall? In simple terms. also, both trucks are on stock tires and suspension setups, thank you!

Tires are 90% of the handling equation. Talk to those fast guys are see what they are running and get the exact same thing. When I run mine on carpet, I like dBoots terrabytes or nanobytes. I've seen others run Schumacher mini pins and I even started out running the SC10 RTR tires. The RTR's don't provide any where near the same amount of grip as the others I mentioned. Once you are equipped with the right tire, talk to one of the fast guys and see if he will give you a setup sheet for his truck. Match it precisely and then start doing research on what each of the parameters do. You've got tires, you've got a set....now drive the snot out of it. Practice is more important than any hop up parts you can put on the thing. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me. Hope this helps.

Time for a minty fresh chassis for me... I was out testing the new course to see if the 2wds can handle the back section. ran it straight into an I-beam off a big jump... nothing would with stand that. Its not the cars fault, thats for sure.

Gear diff vs Ball diff

Getting a sc10 in trade, in need of a diff rebuild.
Just wondering which way to go...gear or ball diff? What are the pro's/con's of each?

Nevermind...google helped me :)

How much do you guys value a used sc10.1 in good condition at.

Is it a Factory team kit or a RTR?

Ok guys, here's one for ya, I need help making a sc10rs more driveable. We have two, one mine, one my gfs, her is brand new, and the thing is a missile, all stock everything minus some suspension adjustments, and it is hardly driveable it's so fast. Mine has all the same stock stuff and is just fine the way it is, we even had some very experienced people at our local indoor track try it out, and they said the thing is just stupid fast, and uncontrollable, so I have loosened the slipper a little bit, and that helped a little, but it still just wants to wheelie down every straight away, and rocket off of every jump with the smallest throttle input. Any way I can time this down to make it more controllable for her?

What you really probably want to do is reduce the punch (limit current). Unfortunately, I don't think the stock electronics can do that. You could try reducing overall throttle. You can do that easily enough on the radio by just turning the end point down. You could also try gearing up (watch the motor temps though) and adding weight (3oz behind the battery plus the ballast is pretty common).

^^Stock RS electronics do have a punch profile. I ran into the same situation setting up my son's friends, scb. One increase of the punch setting, and the thing was spending more time on the rear bumper than it was on all 4's lol

Csimp3 01-30-2014 10:19 AM

How is that adjusted?

I have a sc10rs, I was thinking of changing out the speedo. While another speedo work with the rs radio gear?

The radio would work fine. The question is gonna be this. Does your new esc work for your motor you have in the car. Some esc only work brushless and some only work work bushed motor. Then you have some esc that work both. That is an easy change if you can solder.you will Also need to know on your motor which tabs are a, b, and c. The esc instructions will tell what tabs are a, b, and c for the esc only. A has to match a, b to b , and c to c.if you have any more questions just ask some one will chime in

Yes, I am replacing the motor with my 17.5 and a new revention pro 1.1. I can't smooth out the throttle profile with out resetting the rs speedo

That on the stock esc I guess they made bo bo there. Just follow the instruction you should be fine. If that radio had throttle trim or epo turn them to the neutral point.another thing I would look at in the esc does it allow you to change motor directions. I don't think the stock radio would have it. And if you can't charged the direction you might not be able to use the stock radio I did not think of that in the first post just a heads up.
