Took it out today, traction wasn't too great in this type of dirt, loose in some places. But the truck kept shutting off, i think it is the on-off switch, i will see about replacing it. Run time wasn't that great with this old 3800 , can't wait til the lipos come in,. I ordered 2 of these (caught them before going out of stock) hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__18606__zippy_flightmax_5400mah_2s2p_50c_hardcase _car_lipoly.html

I already got a few plans for the truck one i get some some more funds, get a better transmitter (turnigy 3xs), new body, a few more tires/wheels, some springs and oils to fine tune the suspension, and track time!

Link didn't show up cause u don't have enough posts lol, I believe 10 are required, and that is a nice look with the sc10 in that kinda dirt lol

It does look cool running in that dirt but gets really dirty lol. I think one of those chassis covers would be great for bashing. When I ran it in my yard, i got alot of foxtail weeds up in everywhere .

I want to get some springs and shock oils so i can fine tune at the tracks, any recommendations on cheap prices for these ? Big bore springs would be nice but I think i would be happy with just standard sized springs for now.

I think i will upgrade the radio to a turnigy 3xs pretty soon.

Other upgrades I plan to do over time are mip cvds, gullwing a-arms and shock tower, ball diff, titanium turnbuckles

I would drop the titanium turnbuckles. I have them and I just don't see a need for them. Save for the big bore shocks instead. As for shock oil, I would go with losi oil, and you can sometimes find the spring kits on here for half price with 1 pair of springs missing sometimes.

are you running the plastic or alum hexes? I think the alum hexes might help support the axles better.

I'm thinking of upgrading my oem plastic hexes to some aluminum AE ones. Do you guys recommend using blue loctite on the screw threads?

the stock RTR steel turnbuckles bend if you sneeze at them wrong..Ti Turnbuckles are a must IMO..along with RPM ball cups. The rest is pretty much personal preference/budget driven. But tie rods and ball cups will end a race for you...none of the other FT upgrades will cost you a race by not having them.

my .02

if the screw is going into metal/alum. then yes. if the screw is going into plastic, use CA glue if need be.

A bent turnbuckle may not end your race....it will just make you wish it had.

+1 on the regular turnbuckles. i acquired my sc10 from my nephew, and he had only driven it twice, but apparently nailed a metal pole or something, bent a turnbuckle right where the threading ends, and broke the right front a-arm. the first thing i did after i cleaned up the truck was getting a set of ti-turnbuckles and the ae big bores. i also noticed the plastic hexes were sticking to the wheels, so i'm convincing myself i need a set of clamp style hexes, thus the AE ones are next on my list of to-do's for the truck.

Thanks for the heads up! Just curious, what works better on them?

hypertek 06-17-2013 05:28 PM

Im still learning about the BB conversion parts needed, i read some guys going all out on more pricey parts for it, but im trying to understand this, are slash and losi springs considered bb? I see intergy slash tuned spring set is pretty cheap on ebay, than i would just need the slash cups and retainer correct?

well, they clamp on better. I have both and the avids definitely hold on better and the finish on the avids seems to last forever and the blue finish on the AE's fades.
