What would be the BB spring to use on v2. I mean the most common rate or are the rates about the same as the ft springs

platgof 02-14-2013 07:24 PM

Tower Hobbies just dropped the FT to $236.99. I guess the new truck is almost here. I just installed blue springs front and rear and they seem to feel great doing the balance test. Find center balance point and compress the suspension to watch the shock reaction. I had gold front and green, but the front was too bouncy.

That is a great price to get someone into a good SC. I wonder when the announcement will happen then....

When I ran the v2 shocks I ran blue/green with3-1 pistons and it was good

I just checked it said $236.99. Is that a typo when you said $136.99?

I looked too! Mine shows $236 as well. If it was $136 I was going to order 2 of em!

What is the biggest size motor this will handles with all stock parts. i have the factory team . or i should say the lady does i got it for her. but this 17.5 class kinda died out over here. i was thinking an 8.5t motor not sure if the truck will hold up too it though. dont want to go chasing and fixing trans parts all the time. i want something safe for a mod class for her. this will only be her second season racing gonna stay with a novik cause that what i got already. so please only people that know what this will handle not something that gonna ripe this apart cause i have a class to race too.

I run a Ballistic 10.5 w boost in mine, never worked on the transmission other than sand the diff rings every now and then when it gets notchy.

I use the VTS Slipper, it's a nice upgrade that gives you more adjustment over the stock stuff.

Slightly off topic, but if you guys aren't running the Proline body mounts for the SC10, you are missing out! I can't believe I waited so long to get this. :O

They are about a zillion times better than anything else out there. :)

CraigMBA 02-14-2013 10:41 PM

Better? How so?

See for yourself! Not flimsy and no body pins, those caps screw on, looks totally dialed!

No real point to this post.. Just venting, I think?

Bought an SC10 second hand recently on here.. claimed to have been only used a few times.

I've had it running for all of a few days of the last 3.5 weeks.

* Slipper pads were glazed. Found not to have been anywhere near tight enough.
* Main motor bearing (novak 8.5t) seized within a few packs
* ESC caught fire (Novak Kinetic) - Running 2s packs with 17/84 gearing after a few packs (literally 2 minutes into the next pack after waiting 14 days for a replacement bearing it went up in flames)
* Noticed washers on rear A arms put on incorrectly
* Finally had car running with a new ESC. Only lasted 30 seconds at the track before it felt like it was binding up. Thought maybe ball diff had gone cactus. Took apart the transmission to find one outdrive bearing ruined and the other very rough. Ball diff feels rough. Spring meant for ball diff adjustment completely missing. Lucky I already have a re-built kit here.

I guess it's not really fair to blame this on the car, but if it wasn't for the $$ I've put into RPM brace + F&R bumpers, wheels, tyres, flo tek body, outerwears, sway bars, F&R spring kits and so forth I'd be almost ready to sell it off and grab a Blitz. My son has one of those and it goes beyond my expectations. :P

Not the exact experience I had, but, not far off either. I'll not buy used again unless I know the individual and the car!! Lesson learned. (some how my used RC had a bent "titanium turnbuckle". How does titanium bend?!

I have bent lunsford punishers before. But they have a life time warranty. I had them for 8 years and lunsford replaced them with no receipt. AE's are even thinner and I have seen the bend and break.

I took the bent turnbuckle with two pairs of pliers (one on each end) to see if I could straighten it........ no go.... I know they can be bent, the question was more rhetorical than anything........ BUT, I just doubt the bent turnbuckle came from racing.... and that wasn't the only issue with this (lightly used) B4.1 either. Just one example of a huge misrepresentation of the car I bought. Lesson learned here.
