Tekno RC EB48 Thread
Tekno said that there was a bad batch of the .2 cases that was injected/molded at a lower temperature than normal thus causing them to fail at the top ears of the case. I ran the .1 cases at psycho nitro blast because it seemed people haven't had as many problems with them compared to the .2 diff case. I'm not sure if the .1 case is stronger or not. I do know the two guys I pitted with both broke .2 cases in pro e buggy class during psycho nitro blast. They both where able to finish the race because of the metal brace they run.
as this an older case? I thought this was resolved a couple months back
I have noooo idea. How can i tell? I bought the first one from a hobby store and the second one I got from Tekno themselves.
Also any have a set up for PNB they would be willing to share. My car felt good, But i think it could be better. Thanks.

I am not sure if they modified anything so you would be able to tell it is a newer version other than email TEKNO and let them know when you purchased from them.
Personally I am running EB48.1 and have never had an issue and have been reluctant to upgrade to .2
I put mine through hell there and didn't break anything. However, I was running the old non-angled case. The car could definitely handle the abuse. The cases that suffered from that bad injection process can't though.
So, are new cases ordered from the tekno site stronger now?
I might order some just to replace mine as a precaution. I broke one a while back but the replacement has been good so far. But if there was a durability improvement made I will probably just replace with the new and keep the old as a spare.
EDIT: Forget it I guess. They are showing out of stock on the tekno store.

We tested good and bad side by side and the temperature issue was definitely the problem. One small hit from the hammer and the bad batch broke. To break the good batch, you had to pound and pound on it.
Once the good batch filters through (there shouldn't be many of the bad batch left in circulation) we are confident this won't be an issue anymore. Thanks.
The cases on the Tekno site are all injected properly and part of the good batch. We discarded the cases from the bad batch. Most of our dealers have them now as well. Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to determine what is a from a good batch and what is from a bad batch without breaking it to find out.

Just my .02 worth...
I've come to terms with what to expect for customer service w/ Tekno. My brand new Tekno ET48 has outdrives that show more wear after a few hours of use (visible cups) than my losi parts did after a full year of racing. The best Tekno would do is make me rip my vehicle apart, leaving me w/o a vehicle, pay to ship them the defective (new) part, then they will give me a 50% credit for more new parts to replace the defective new parts and yes I also get to pay them to ship me my parts as well. Good stuff.
