Pros: Softer, stickier, grippier and ultimately, faster in 95% of the conditions a 1/10th electric truck will race on.
Cons: More wear than the harder compounds but even then, PL's very soft stuff will still generally outlast other very soft compounds like a Losi red/pink.

Ok, so how would that relate to say a JConcepts green compound (other than wear)?

I ask because some tires seem available in only one compound. I race on an outdoor track, and we start quals in the heat of the day (and only water between quals). If the groove was dust free, and say an M4 Holeshot was the tire of choice during the heat of the day... when the sun goes down the moisture comes up in the track, i would think i would want a treated M2 compound. (?)

I cant do that with certain tires from certain companies (some patterns work better than others). You have one compound and thats it. :(

If im overthinking it and just need to buy M4/Green and wheel it... tell me so. lol

The JC green is pretty close to the Proline M4. I would just get some JC green double dees and run em. They are going to be good during the day ( warm, sun) and when the sun goes down and the moisture is in the track. These tires pretty much work everywhere. I switch between these and flipouts depending on moisture and surface. I like the holeshots but man these have to been the most unbalanced tires i have ever mounted. 5 sets of M4 holeshots have been this way. They need a ton of clay to even get them runnable. The JC tires hardly ever need balancing attention.

Agreed with everything here and to expand, the softer tires, whether M4 or JC Green will still be grippier/more desirable than M2/3 when the moisture level comes up and temp goes down. Most racers change away from running the softest available compound only when the temperature goes up and the moisture disappears to the point where the softer rubber will overheat and become greasy itself.

Can anyone tell me what the castle creations mamba or sidewinder may compare to in turns? They only give u the KV, but wondered what turn they may equal to.

Those are the speed controllers. They come in combos with different motors. Which motors in particular are you wondering about? I've heard that the 5700 kv is around a 7-7.5 turn. I can believe that. Its potent.

I can imagine a 17.5 needing more gear than that for blinky...

That would really depend on th length of the straight. DaveRobbo, please check the link I posted to RCgearhead. The above sounds like a decent starting point for you. I would go with that and monitor your temps. Temp too high, gear up, too low and gear down.
