here is what im starting @ for shorty lipo in the truck:

wont be running it till the 21st tho.

http://205.196.123.174/d0t3g7ghzpxg/...CS_Sanders.pdf <- not clickable to view, only to download :( file too large for rctech

may end up going outside on the lower arm in the front, but never felt like i liked that position, see how it is with the shorty tho.

Thanx man.

Ive got a slew of drilled pistons both two and three hole. For truck i always liked two hole 53's and 35wt oil in the rear. I started using them when 1/10 gas truck was big. Tons of rough stuff grip!

For anyone that cares... I just rebuilt my shocks using the Double-Seal Viton(R) Fluoroelastomer O-Rings from McMaster Carr. I bought a bag of single seal o-rings as well made of the same material. During the rebuild I tried 1 single and 1 double seal first. There was quite a bit of sticking on the shaft. I then used 2 double seal o-rings. This setup had the same amount of friction as my 3 month old shocks according to my hands and my Losi Shock Tool. Tomorrow I see if they leak.

What brand shock pistons are you guys using? ive never heard of a # 53 or 57

Also has anyone convertered their truck to hex wheels? Are the same parts needed as for the buggy?

They're Losi pistons. The number refers to the size of the holes in the piston.

DaveW 01-14-2012 09:32 AM

The number references the size drill bit used to make the hole. Any Hobby Lobby or similar craft store (or a well stocked hobby shop that specializes in trains) will sell the drill bits.

I always used AE pistons (#3's because i always had so many of them) and drilled them. AE #3 is close to a Losi 56, #2 close to a 55, and #1 is close to a 54. The lower the two digit number the bigger the drilled hole.

The AE piston with two 53 holes moves faster through the same weight oil than a 54. The balance comes when you are trying to find perfect pack and spring response for jumps, and proper weight transfer (front to rear for throttle control through corners)... this also translates as chassis bump and rut handling ability (overall speed through these sections is also a factor), but is also related to the much generalized term "traction".

A drilled piston hole is smaller than a molded piston hole. So a 55 bit will feel loose in a molded 55 hole. This changes the surface area of the piston, and its effect on pack and damping rate. Adding a third hole to a two hole piston will speed up piston speed through the given oil weight... so jockying the numbers around can give you something that works for your track and driving style.

i personally think playing with shocks is one of my favorite things with rc. There are so many different variations. Suspension can also make or break your ride

Big Bore Springs Mounted Up! Still waiting for the shorty lipos tho to "set" ride height :D

white rear/silver rear in the front

Which springs did you use?

Yea thats what I was guessing.. So are they both rear springs for the 22t or form the buggy?

Im getting my truck next week, and Ive seen this mod a couple times, so I might try this.

both are rear springs since nothing 22t will be out till late jan / early feb, seems like they will work fine, just gotta see if the shorty is enough weight to get ride height hah.

plan on 22t green fronts (3.5 rate) while the 22 silver rear is 3.4, but because its longeri think it will "act" stiffer on the front.

Pretty excited, parks department approved a new outdoor track within 20 minutes of my house. Had the first club meeting this morning and started on the build. It will be a couple of months, but the track should be awesome.

edit: forgot my point, seems like there are at least 8 stadium trucks and more to come too!

Hi Guys,

maybe a stupid question but need to know, would there be a similar release of the T4.1 like the B4.1 Worlds with the +8mm chassis?

Will AE follow the band wagon of the BigBore on thier kits? will be buying a truck for my son and would wish for a BB setup like the 22T, but parts wise i like AE.

thanks again.

The current T4.1 will stay as it is until they re due the entire line..next year is my guess...

best you can get till then is gonna be a T4.1 and add BB TLR or K springs to it.

T4 chassis length works they're not going to change that. It's at legal length or close to it anyway
