Wildcat1971 09-18-2012 06:20 PM

I will probably just convert to the new AE BB springs. They are less than $5 a pair. not bad.

gamedog1966 09-18-2012 08:35 PM

how often do you guys replace ur losi bb springs, i assume they wear and tear like any other part of the car and need replacing at one time or another. when they start loosing their finish are they the exact same rate as they were fresh out of the package? my springs are starting to look silver in spots ya kno

This is from Avid but I think it applies to all springs. I cut and paste what applies.

http://www.avidrc.com/product/19/sho...k-springs.html

Traditional coated springs have a powder coating to protect the wire, but the coating differs in stiffness from the wire. Vendors normally have to compensate by adjusting the wire diameter and number of coils, but as the powder coating breaks down, you’re left with a spring that isn’t the same as when you installed it.

As the standard small print, AVID is not responsible for rust on springs. If you care for them properly, the springs should last through the racing season. As a rule of thumb, AVID does recommend replacing springs every year to ensure peak performance. Throughout a spring’s life, the performance can degrade after a significant number of compression/extension cycles. This is reduced in an AVID spring which has no coating, but it is still un-avoidable.

But you arent using AE shocks so that doesnt apply to Tradin Paints situation. With the AE BB you will not need to relocate the camber link. They will be no different than the V2's with BB springs.

If I did this mod released by AE I wouldn't have to move the link either.

To me this means that the AE BB shocks are different than the V2s.

Springs will be the same as if your running the BB springs now. The mod is for the shock cap and body area. Has no difference in spring location.
I'm going to shim my mounts instead of grinding the shock tower.

I understand that. It's so that the shock isn't moved further back, which moves the larger diameter spring back as well. So in essence, it does have to do with the spring location vs. V2's which is what the original statements were in reference to.

Well of course they are different. that's why the shaved the shock tower. The shock body , caps and pistons are bigger. BB..that's it!... center to center there is no ergonomic difference. Just like Odin544 said. No link relocation is needed. Spring location is exactly the same.

I don't race under my alias name. I use my real name in my sig and my T4 wasn't ready for race #1. Its ready to go now. I didn't do to well in ProLite. I had maybe 6-8 laps of practice and was adjusting my setup like crazy. Every time my truck hit the track it had changes. I finally got it and bumped up to B and had a good shot in B but got hacked twice in the first 3 laps and that's all it took. From 6th to 20th place, qualifying was seperated by 9 seconds so it was tight and good competition. After that I knew if the leaders stayed consistent it was to much to over come. So 12 or so out of 40+. It was still fun.
KBRL is coming to cvrc soon too.

No it is not. The owners are out of town that weekend with the holiday. They wanted fear farms date, but that was given to SRS, so meh. anyway. 14 laps in 6 minutes. not bad. Probably faster than me, :9 . lol. CH has jumps every 5 feet and I not that good at jumping.

Nov. 10th is a Holiday? I'm going to have to miss the new SRS date.

Wildcat1971 09-20-2012 04:33 PM

it is a holiday weekend. CV never races on a holiday weekend.

J_Bone 09-20-2012 04:55 PM
