Yes, they are 4 pole motors. Most tracks don't enforce strict roar rules unless they are running a roar specific event. The OP was wondering about inexpensive systems and for your average or new rc enthusiast, the Viper systems are very good.

Yes you can use the Hobbywing advanced LCD programming link just as you normally would on a hobbywing branded esc.or the usb "dongle"..I actually used the yellow dongle to flash my blue hobbywing..worked just fine..I also wanted to point out that when you link to the speedo using the dongle it auto detects the hardware and the firmware installed .It registered as a hobbywing XeRun as the hardware and it had hobbywing firmware already on it..I then installed Hobbywing 508 zero timing firmware for Blinky legal use..This IS a hobbywing Xerun speedo..Its not a clone. It performs exactly like my Blue Hobbywing branded esc.

best I could search up in the states right now is the 80A..but rcx sells the 150a also ..they are pretty quick about keeping them in stock usually so if your not in a rush you just may want to keep an eye out there.. |

first trac test for my "yellow" 17.5 combo today and it performs great . ive run it with the boosted firmware and lap times were basically the same as my xerun 8.5 if not a little more consistent  .
i havent looked at the firmware cd that came with it as i already have both hw and sp in my computer and have been using sp boosted , this yellow one is just as good:nod: |

What they SHOULD be saying is ASSEMBLED in the usa made from globaly sourced components..I do beleive novak lost a lawsuit in california over that very statement..as to just HOW globally sourced the components are that is for novak to know and us to speculate upon.I live in Michigan, and we can tell you from the decline in our statewide economy that American owned, and assembled is much different than american MADE all together..I beleive the term with in the industry for out sourcing is "farming out"..A good example of "farming out" and its effect on the RC industry would be Associated.Associated was an american made, american owned company..They started outsourcing their parts and now a company that they outsourced a majority of their components to in the past actually OWNS them now..Thunder Tiger.
