I've been testing the new Viper Copperhead and Copperhead R systems in my sc10 2wd and my ofna hyper tt. These are very good systems and will be under $150 for the combo. They run very smooth, fast and cool. The other nice thing is that if you have any trouble (which I didn't) or questions (which I did) their tech and service support is very good.

I e-mailed them and they for $15 more you could have it in 7-10 days. but in that case you spend a couple more dollars and get something stateside lol

has anybody e-mailed him (Yping2000) to see about selling the motors seperately???if Not i will get on that:nod:It would be nice to be able to get a competitive sensored motor for the $35-$40 range, and from what I have seen from my 17.5 from him they are plenty competitive;)

Got my el cheapo 17.5 /60a speedo combo yesterday:)..Didnt have time to put the speedo in before i went racing, but I did run the 17.5 in 2wd buggy, blinky esc class just ran it with my Hobbywing 60a I had in the buggy..These motors are JUST FINE for club racing in blinky mode.I was just as fast as I usually am and made the A with no problem. It was actually faster than the 3 yr old Orion 17.5 that I have been running in that class which was expected since the orion motor is 3 years old...Looking at the speedo up close it IS a hobby wing just as suspected, just has a different Cap. module on it..will be getting the yellow speedo in my buggy for testing at next weeks races..Mr .Ypin2000 (ebay seller) should be giving me a kickback at this point,LOL..Have quite a few peeps at the track looking at these pretty hard after scoping mine out last night...

I wish he had a higher amp ESC in a package instead of separately so I could someday decide if I want to go stupid fast and put a 5.5 in it. I see the lowest you can go is 11.5 for off road with the 60A. I was thinking of getting a 13.5 and see what it would cost for the 11.5 motor as well. Easier to de-tune a more powerful motor than to try and squeak power out of a motor that can't produce it.

It's nice to see that it only took 2.5 weeks to make it to MI. I have been kind of holding off buying from him because I didn't want it to take the month to get here (Detroit area), plus I wanted to buy something stateside in case I had problems there would be no language problems and time zone headaches. I kind of like the HK 100A ESC posted earlier in the thread, just wish I could find out if I can program all the Boost/iming/turbo etc on it. Plus it would give more options of motors later on.

I emailed him about his 120A ESC : Do you sell just motors that can be paired with this ESC? I want a 120A ESC with a 13.5 motor. The reason I want a 120A esc is in case I want to go to a motor lower than a 11.5 in my Blitz. Plus I know a few people that bought your 60A ESC 17.5 combo and would also like to know if you sell just motors so they can swap them out at the track for different classes. Thanks for your time.

I'll let you know what the response is.

TJ you can run down to a 8.5 or 7.5 safely with the 60a as long as you gear to temp (130* or less motor at the 5 min mark).I ran a novak 8.5 with my 60 amp Xerun in my losi SCB most of the summer without any issues at all .and a 8.5 inthe SCB was just silly fast!!

hey guys finally got the yellow 60a esc put in my buggy...couple things i had to do to get body clearance..first , the fan had to come off of course, second, i had to modify the 3.5mm bullets that come soldered to the wires..I simply removed the wires and used the dremel to cut off the entire solder cavity so I could solder to the flat top left by the cut. Turning the wires off to the side instead of straight up and down gave me all the body clearance I needed on the RB5..Programming was a cinch with the usb link.Updated to 805zero timing firmware and viola!! we have a blinky legal 17.5 system..The 17.5 that came with it is nice and smooth. It is one of the 17.5 sensorless ezrun motors with a timing rear end bell.Took it apart to confirm this, and except for the R endbell it is the exact same as the 17.5 Ez-run that I beat the snot out of on my backyard track for over 2 years..That put my mind at ease and I am confident that this one will be just as reliable..BTW the 3.5 bullets fit nice and snug, so they arent coming out of the socket on accident by any means..It takes some twisting as you pull to get them out of the socket..definitely bargainof the century for those of us in need of a blinky legal system, but dont want to spend $200.00 to run the class!!

Can you use the normal hobbywing programming box to flash the firmware and adjust settings than ? Or can you use the included USB dongle.

Yes, they are 4 pole motors. Most tracks don't enforce strict roar rules unless they are running a roar specific event. The OP was wondering about inexpensive systems and for your average or new rc enthusiast, the Viper systems are very good.

First night racing with the yellow hobbywing 17.5 combo in blinky..things went well..i set TQ the first round and re-set TQ the 2nd round with a win in the main wich also clinched the first half winter points series for me..:nod:Yeah nothing at all wrong with this system..very smooth and easy to drive with..I didnt have to crank the timing on the motor to keep pace with the other fast guys on the mid sized carpet track. My 15 yr old also had a good night in mod sct running a 60a xerun esc with a 2950 Kv Tacon sensorless motor. He set TQ for the class, finished 4th in the main , which left him in 3rd for the points series.Just an all around good night at the races for the budget gear.

Yes you can use the Hobbywing advanced LCD programming link just as you normally would on a hobbywing branded esc.or the usb "dongle"..I actually used the yellow dongle to flash my blue hobbywing..worked just fine..I also wanted to point out that when you link to the speedo using the dongle it auto detects the hardware and the firmware installed .It registered as a hobbywing XeRun as the hardware and it had hobbywing firmware already on it..I then installed Hobbywing 508 zero timing firmware for Blinky legal use..This IS a hobbywing Xerun speedo..Its not a clone. It performs exactly like my Blue Hobbywing branded esc.
