where you gonna be racin at ?
you have the most adjustable esc out right now

put timing to low and start power to medium and put a nice throttle curve on it

if you build the diff right you will get no slippage. but as far as wheels lifting theres nothing you can really do. besides maybe dial out anti squat
i run a 5700 in my b4 and the nose is really light on power.

There are 2 tracks that are local, 1 - 25 min away in Ransomville, NY and 1 - 45 min away in Springville NY. I raced 1/18th offroad last winter and had a blast. The track is going to be set up for 10th this year (Ransomville). I have the B4 and a slash to try it out with. My B4 is so light on the nose that it wil backflip if I punch it out of the hole. I put a front wing on it to see if that helped at speed but have yet to see a difference.

add some weight up front next to the servos as much as you can
and if your running lipo make a plate out of stainless steel that you can shoegoo to the bottom of the lipo pack.

Default T4 Questions

A few questions

Which Chassis does the FT T4 kit come with?
Also which way do I run the front directional tires? I hear one way helps with on power and the other way helps with entering the turns?

What spur is everyone running with a 17.5? 78....?

Thanks in advance.

Josh,

The new FT T4 kits come with a plastic chassis.
The front directionals are run with the straight ribs on the inside and the edges on the outside at OCRC and at Pegasus. This gives more on power steering.
With a 17.5 motor, I run a 78 spur and 29 pinion at OCRC and a 30 at pegasus.

youd need a bearing with a id that matches the topshaft and a o.d that matches the spur

truefully id go with the setup i mentioned.

I had some Kimbrough spurs laying around and found a LHS that had the tootsie rolls, um I mean traxxas sliper pegs...

A rear hub/front wheel bearing is perfect! The gear has some raised ribbing for strength and the bearing is the right width and doesn't stick out the sides of the spur.
However, them dang tootsie rolls are a bit of a pain. They are small and a fairly tight fit to get through the multiple extra holes in the spur. And they are not very much wider than the spur - with the extra ribbing (for strength, not pleasure... ) around each hole.

I assembled a spur and set the slipper. It appears to work but I am wondering how long it will take to wear through the tootsie roll traxxas pegs. I will try it out and see.

That is my only concern as well. I dont know how long they will last. although for stock i dont see it being a big problem.

Hey Chris,
With a 69 tooth spur, there isn't much room left for material and gear to stick out beyond the slipper plates. You could probably drop just a couple more teeth off the spur...

However, you probably wouldn't ever need to go to a smaller spur because the SMALLEST pinion you can fit is a 30T. That is with the motor all the way forward. Yep, all the way forward - that's quite rare to say when talking about proper gearing a 17.5

With the Turbo Hub. Just have to see if you can get a 66 on there with the slipper plates.
