How comparable is the T3 and B3 to the new T4s and B4s? I bought a T3 and B3 in hopes are starting Off-Road racing this winter. Is there a thread that deals with those 2 vehicles? I searched and didnt find anything.

hey guys! Just wanted to ask you all a question. I recently decided to upgrade my servos in my RC cars, my B4 included. The JR 590m (cyclone) and hitec 645mg (b4) have been trusty and a dependable. I looked at the specs again to my 645mg and realized...its alot slower than i thought. I figured maybe its holding me back. I recently placed 4th overall in an 8 race series (JBRL if any of you have heard of it). On dry bluegroove tracks i always qualified well and did well (2nd place in my a-main for both bluegroove tracks we visited). More blown out/loose/dusty tracks i didnt fare too well (didnt make it to the A twice, other races i qual'd in the A but didnt finish in the top 3). Whatever the case, driving skill or equipment, ive decided to upgrade in attempt to see if any of my stuff was holding me back (i can consistently be as fast as the top fast guys in sportsman with my onroad class). I was looking at steering servos and this one caught my eye big time...

for offroad, the torque rating worried me a little as my 645mg has nearly twice that much. Should i worry? What do you guys think? (the others are looking at are a $100 futaba and an $85 hitec).

Yeah that torque spec is a little worrysome, the speed looks ok. You dont really need the fastet servo out there, some people prefer certain speeds, but i would hate it if you couldnt counter steer effectively. It may be enough for a buggy, i know i used to run servos with less torque than that.

You may want to ask the electronics section on here, and you mat be able to find a good deal on a servo in the for sale thread

well i guess something i can add to my previous post is...

has anyone ran their b4 or t4 with a JR 590m or Spektrum z590 servo? Did you race it? how did it feel? That cirrus has the same torque ratings as those two servos but its simply faster. If the 590s have been used effectively by other members with no complaints, its probably a shoe-in for me.

All I run is JR z590's, and I can win races with those.

The only issue with them is that the raction time is a little slow, but other then that, I think it is a way to cheat at making smooth turns. lol

I cant seem to get my ride height in the rear up to 25mm like in the setup sheets from ryan and ryan. im using the silver spring in the rear with the collar about one turn away from falling off, and the shock eyelet is also about one turn from unthreading and my ride is at 23 mm

You may have to many internal shock limiters to limit your ride height...?

Is this because you are running out of threaded area on your shock body?

If that is the case... try the bottom front shock cup from the B44, or RPM this gives you around 1/4" more ride height to play with.

On my cars I double stack the shock collars, top one being upside down. Doing this, give you the same effect of more ride height, because, even if the bottom collar is no longer on the threads, it is supported by the upper collar.
