Yes, the Ultras are the stock plastic-bodied shocks. Aluminum bodies are better, because the bore is straighter and rounder, but the stockers can be made to work. Getting rid of the stock progressive-rate springs is the most important improvement.

Since the shock towers are the tallest point of the chassis, I avoid aluminum. I like the Proline Protrac towers. Stronger than stock, less flex than RPM, and 2 choices for shock mounting, 3 for camber link. My second choice would be the Anza CF towers. Planning on ordering that bellcrank. Combines the aluminum construction and multiple ackermann positions of the Proline aluminum bellcrank with the integral servo saver of the Proline Steering Improver Kit, plus choice of spring tension.

If you're running carpet off road, I would seriously consider going to a mid motor chassis like Chuckworks offers. ta_man on this forum was selling an early version with a Fast Lane trans and sealed diff a while back. May want to see if he still has it. Chuck's early offerings placed the battery farther forward than the current versions.

What springs are you using XXX-T front and rears or rears all the way around?

I have the Pro-MT & 2, the Proline towers are nice, but very flexible. I may try the Anza towers eventually.

Awesome I'll order some tomorrow, how about tires? Off-road carpet track, no traction compounds allowed.

Proline made CF carbon fiber stiffeners for the kit towers. #6109-00 (front) and #6109-01 (rear) to reduce some of the flex

I was tinkering with my Robby Gordon,LCG chassis, Stock Slash today.
I'm starting to race with Slash titan motors straight outa the bag oil the bushings
and just drive it. I used to buy those BLT Motors other than them lasting longer than a normal slash motor I see no real difference in RPMs.

We run clay off road, so I'm probably no help on what tires to run. Some tracks won't allow pins, so check that before deciding. I just had an afterthought. For carpet, a Hot Racing sway bar kit and some Bad Horsey grease in the diff may help you get in and out of the corners faster.

Some guys will break them in by submerging them in ice water and running them on a AA battery, then oiling the bushings.

Aluiminum shock caps are a must. I put traxxas red aluminum caps on my truck.
The red caps look pretty nice with the black Robby Gorden body I use.

RPM Steering Blocks, and Rear RPM Toe Blocks are also a must.
I was breaking the stock ones and replaced with RPM plastic good to go!

Hey all -

My kids are racing kids class with their slashes and having a lot of fun but the wheels that were given to me are too deep on the rims compared to stock slash so the rim rubs the arms when turning. Do you know what to look for with rims so they don't bind when turning? Thanks!!'
