Mantis' diff is not out yet, you can pre order it off of rc shox. Mantis makes great stuff and puts alot of testing into them. If he says its going to be good then I believe him.

the stock slipper is not enough, unless you bash and lock it down. you at least need a mac the knife basket if you plan to race.

The center diff should be viewed as another option. Not many people have used it yet, so if you can't afford a clutch basket and the ball diff wait it out so that more people can determine the pros and cons between the current clutch basket setups and this center diff on various surfaces.

Center diff:

Coyote doesn't have a website, so not sure on that. There are pictures in the thread somewhere.

Like Krio said wait a bit, see which will work the best for you.

Factory stock slipper is way underrated, don't get fooled by
those who say it is not performance worthly ...

just purchased my sc10 4x4, what is the most needed spare parts for this truck

Front and rear arms are a good idea....not because they "break" but because just about everyone who has run one of these for 2-3 months has had the arms sag noticably.

I've beat the snot out of my truck all summer long (2x weekly, 5 qualifiers, 2 mains/week) on a motocross style race track with HUGE jumps (15 feet up, and if you can kill the parachute effect of the body, 70-90 feet long) and with MANY upside down landings, and cartwheels, the only thing I have BROKEN is the bar that holds the body posts and one body post. (The body clip tore right through....but again, after landing upside down an average of once per lap!)

I've seen a rear shock tower break, but again, it was a new driver like myself landing poorly on the huge jumps.

Hey all.

I'm recently sponsored by Associated (and very psyched to be!) and will be switching from an SCTE to the SC104x4. I have read thru the most excellent first post (great job on that CraigV) and just wanted to get some feedback from those of you that race these trucks a lot (meaning 20-25 times a year; about the amount of major races I travel to) and what kind of spares and whatnot you've had to keep on hand.

I will probably start with Maifield's setup as a base starting point and lock down the clicker.

Any input would be great, thanks in advance for all your help!

:)

The only parts I've actually broken are a front pulley guide and a rear hub. I've worn out/replaced front and rear diff cases, arms, idler gears, one belt, spur gear, and pads. This is after racing the truck at least every other week since it came out.

Sounds good! I'm used to replacing half the truck all the time with the Losi, lol! Great layout, but the parts quality... :weird:

Congratz!
there are a lot of tuning options for this truck...
exoteck chassis
rcshox.com garodiscs, 2 stage pistons, center ball diff
you will definatly need swaybars
what I have found is that the truck is a little light and and too flexable and benefists from weight down low i.e. exotek chassis.
The center ball diff that Mantis(RCshox.com) and I have been testing has shown to work very well and makes the truck easyer to drivehard, and you dont need to run extremely thick front diff fluids, I am using 7k front and 3k rear.
Good luck
